Doris Lorraine Kinchen

Doris Lorraine Kinchen, daughter of the late Julia and Alfred Crew, born April 3, 1936, went to her new home not made by hand on Tuesday, September 5, 2006. Jehovah called and she answered. He told her to take Long-Suffering Lane, Persecution Boulevard and Trials and Tribulations Avenue. She followed his directions perfectly right to his house on Victory Street. Good-bye world!She was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools.Doris was employed by Johns Hopkins Hospital for all of her working life, from 1955 until she retired on disability in 1990. She loved her job in the Dietary Department and was a very conscientious worker. She would always tell her family about the different VIP’s that were patients in the Marbury wing of the hospital. Because of her dedication and proficiency, she was promoted to supervisor.She was a friendly and loving person. She always had a smile and was willing to help anyone she could. She loved sharing her expertise in selecting curtains and decorating homes. She could tell you where you could buy pretty curtains (or material to make them) and other accessories for the home. She also shared information on dressing in style. She made recommendations on what she thought would be a good color and looks nice on you. She tried to steer you in the right direction in selecting your clothes. Although she was heavy, she was a fashion plate. She always looked good in her clothes. Doris had many friends, and will be missed by all.Doris enjoyed going to the Gardenville Kingdom Hall when she was able and she enjoyed her bible studies. She loved talking to the members of her congregation, especially the ones she studied with over the telephone and looked forward to this weekly event. She read her bible and daily word faithfully. Before her health began to fail, she loved attending the annual assembly.She loved her family and adored her children and grandchildren. She always wanted to do something for them. They always knew that “Mother or Grandma Doris” was there for them. Her first born, Ronald, preceded her in death.With precious memories Doris leaves one son, Maurice; five daughters, Robin, Terry, Delodier, Dawn and April; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, three aunts and a host of other relatives and friends.
