Doris Grace Pannell

The ObituaryDoris GracePannell, born August 28, 1928 to Grace Viola Cox inWinston-Salem, North Carolina. She entered eternal rest and peace on Friday, July 4, 2008. Doris was preceded in death by her two sons, Randolph Williamson Jr. and Gary Phillips.Doris resided in Baltimore, Maryland since the age of 13. At the age of 16, she entered into marriage with Hubert Phillips. Her second marriage, 13 years later, was to, Alphonso Pannell. Out of her relationships, Doris was blessed with five beautiful children, Gary, Randolph, Anton, Enga, and Grace. Doris was a very hard working woman as a Dietitian with Clifton T. Perkins Hospital in Jessup, Maryland, and retired after 30 years of service. She was also a bartender in the Maryland area. Doris loved the Lord and she made it a point to read her dailydevotionals. 23 Psalm was her favorite scripture. Doris loved family and she would say, “My People.” as a term ofendearment. She believed in sending a card to someone for any occasion. She was very thoughtful of others and was very giving. Doris had many funny sayings and a funny way of saying it: “Never Mind!” “Lord, That’s Mine!”(She wasspoiled.) She also had a funny laugh and enjoyed to reminisce about her childhood.Doris had a great social life with many friends who loved her: Esther,Emma, Sophie, Mary Taylor, Brenda, and Duckie. And two relatives who were her great girlfriends: Cousin Evelyn and Gerline. Doris was a classy lady with great taste. . . . Fashion was second nature to her. When she stepped into a room, she definitely turned heads; a woman with style of her own! Doris was a great entertainer and socializer who loved to put on parties with food, family and friends. She was a great cook who couldn’t fix anything without“Onions” (Yum Yum) . . . SHE LOVED THEM!! Doris had two dogs but, Pappy was her favorite pet. Doris is survived by her two daughters, Gracie S. Garvin (Earl) of Maryland and Enga Pannell Archer (Douglas); three grandchildren, Jaa’mal T. Boyd, Shanen B. Boyd and Tomeka L. Archer;two great-grandchildren, Taylor N. Wiggins and Jerimyah T. Prince-Archer all of Richmond; three nieces, Sharon Ray, Marcia Robinson of Maryland and Berena Paschal; one nephew, Garland Pannell; one sister-in-law, Josephine Pannell of Indiana; devoted friends, Brenda Shorter and Hope Presbyterian Church and Pastor Cherry Marshall; ahost of cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.Summary: What can we say about Doris Grace Pannell. To sum it up, she was a very fun and feisty Lady that loved to kiss her love ones; “Give me a Kiss Boy...You so Sweet!” We truly love her and we will surely miss her.
