Doris E. March Wright

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7Softly and tenderly, God called Doris E. March Wright to blessed peace on Tuesday, August 13, 2002. The third child of Georgia and the Reverend Carrington March. Doris was born in Salisbury, North Carolina on November 18, 1925. A sister and two brothers, Thelma, Paul and William – preceded her in death. When the Reverend Carrington March was called to be Associate Pastor at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Baltimore, the family relocated and settled in East Baltimore. Doris attended the Baltimore City Public Schools, graduating in 1944 from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. For many years, Mrs. Wright was a faithful and supportive member at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Her unwavering faith in God was the solid rock that strengthened her when she was beset with life’s difficult times. She was a member of Our Savior Social Group a service group at the church. After graduating from Dunbar High School, Doris attended Morgan State College and Cortez Peters Business School. For many years she was employed at Westinghouse in Friendship, Maryland, retiring in 1989. The mother of two sons, Michael Wright and the late Gregory Wright (a.k.a. Hazim Abdulghaffar). Mrs. Wright shared a loving and close relationship with her sons, and her special friend of many years, Alfred Edwards, as well as with other family members. A fun-loving person, Doris enjoyed family gatherings especially the holiday dinners with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives. Traveling, bowling, pinochle, shopping, reading, television and times of fellowship with the Chummy Chums, the Cliques, the Friday Niters and the Bernard E. Mason Golden Age Club gave her great pleasure. Mrs. Wright never complained about her illness. Her indomitable spirit and sense of humor endeared her to family, friends and her medical caregivers. During the last six weeks of her illness, Doris was lovingly cared for by two longtime friends, Mattie Lewis and Verna Dorsey. Mrs.Wright leaves to cherish her memory a son, Michael Wright; grandsons, Tracey Wright, Jared Wright, Chance Abdulghaffar and Mark Washington; granddaughters, Stacie Ringgold, Ebonie Wright, Chloe Wright, Shakirah Abdulghaffar and Zakia Abdulghaffar; five great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Jean and Tamber Wright; a brother, Edward March; a sister-in-law, Julia Roberta March; three loving nieces, Shula (Candy) Pittman, Annette March-Grier and Cynthia March-Malloy; four nephews, Erich March, Victor March, Gary March and Reginald March; and a host of other devoted relatives and friends.“…Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning…” Psalm 30:5Lovingly submitted,The Family
