Doris L. Brown

Doris Loraine Brown daughter of the late Joseph Jones, Sr and the late Flossie Bell Scott Clark was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Jones. She was united in marriage to the late Floyd Nie Brown Sr. in 1949. From this union they had three children Deborah Ann Hill, Patricia Lynn Cager, and Floyd Nie Brown Jr. Lady Doris graduated from Douglas High School as a stenographer along side best friend, since kindergarten, Ms. Catherine Smith. She started her employment in Washington D.C. and later worked for the Westinghouse Corporation for twenty-three years before retiring in 1990. In 1966 she became a member of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church. She was named "Senior of the Year". The "Seniors Involved", at Saint Ambrose,recognized her as "A born leader and a person blessed with many talents and gifts." She was President of the "Helping Hands", Vice President of the Parish Council, worked with the "First Women's Day Committee". She also helped annually with the Prayer Breakfast, worked on the Literacy Committee and sang on the Choir. She made stoles for the choir and provided transportation for others to attend social and spiritual events. To all who knew her, outside of close friends and family, called her as "Mrs Brown". Doris later moved to Hampton, VA with her son Floyd. While in Virginia she attended Victory Life Church where she was known as "Lady Doris" and "The Princess". There she enjoyed coffee dates with the McCalla's. She enjoyed traveling to different places. She went on many cruises and excursions with her family and friends. Her favorite trip was to Hawaii. She really enjoyed her time with her family. She also loved singing, dancing, sewing and eating steamed crabs (without the old bay). She leaves her memory to her three children Deborah Ann Hill of Baltimore, MD, Patricia Lynn Cager (Richard) Glen Burnie, MD and Floyd Nie Brown Jr. (Patricia), Hampton, VA, her brother, Harold Jones (Cheryl), her grandchildren Shawn Brown (Dayla), Darrell Hill, Lia Mattox (Will), Karlan Hill, Fatima Brown, Floyd Brown III (Stephanie), Richard Cager Jr and Ericka Burke, a host of great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
