Doris Ann Bennett

Doris Ann Bennett, lovingly known as "Bunky," belove daughter of the late Dorothy and Milton Yancey Sr., was born on August 18, 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland. On February 13, 2026, Doris peacefully gained her wings at home, surrounded by her loving family. Doris dedicated her life to serving others with grace, patience, and unwavering kindness. As a devoted private duty caregiver for over 50 years, she brought comfort and compassion to the countless families she served. She was respected for her professionalism and gentle spirit. For Doris, caregiving was more than a profession, it was a true calling. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and compassion that touched all who had the privilege of knowing her, especially the Fox and Abrams families, whom she supported for many years. If you knew Doris, you knew to buckle up. She was a force of nature who lived life on her own terms. Feisty, bold, and unapologetically herself, she said and did what she wanted. As a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, she was truly a force to be reckoned with, yet beneath that strong exterior she possessed a tender and deeply loving heart. One of her favorite activities was sitting outside on her front porch during the summer months with her sister Joyce. There she met and befriended many neighbors, forming bonds and friendships throughout the community. Doris opened both her home and her heart every day. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, comfort, and most importantly--food. Known to everyone simply as "The Family House," her home was a place where loved ones could stop by unannounced and always feel welcomed, embraced, and cared for. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lou Bennett; her sisters, Joyce Yancey and Gloria Yancey; her brother, Milton Yancey, Jr.; and her son, Dennis Yancey, Sr. Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Monica Foster and Robin Yancey; her son, Keith Yancey (Renee); her sister, Gwendolyn "Renee" Yancey; her cherished grandchildren, April, Deon, Lamika, Tamika, Tyneisha (Reggie), Dominick, Brian, Dennis Jr., Kobe, Koya, and Devin; 16 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her special nephew, captain Cornelius Pendleton (Gwen). She also leaves behind her devoted friends, Norma and Vernon West.
