Dontay M. Yancey

Dontay Maurice Yancey Sr., son of the late Herbert Yancey Sr. and gloria Davis was born March 18, 1979, brought joy and laughter into the world from the moment he arrived. His vibrant spirit and zest for life touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Dontay passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2024, at the age of 45. Dontay affectionately known as Black & Donnie received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System and ended his formal education at Lake Clifton High School. He possessed a gift of gab. His persuasive skills were such that he could “sell water to a well”. A testament to his natural talent as a salesman. Determined to further his career, Dontay pursued studies to obtain his CDLs and afterwards drove a school bus for C&T Transportation. Later in his professional journey, he found fulfillment in his role at Chesapeake Beverage. Dontay was a determined and hardworking individual. In his youth. He found ways to make money through various odd jobs, from cutting grass and painting to working at McDonalds and Temporary Agencies, where he worked the club level of the brand – new Ravens Stadium Music and dancing were a passion that he enjoyed. Even though he sang off key and moved to his own beat, he would simply enjoy riding around listening his favorite songs over and over again. Music was a source of solace and inspiration for him. His dancing could not be touched. Dontay loved his family and took joy in going to any pick of aunts, uncles, and cousins houses. He would come in the house with the biggest energy, bombarding until they all say “Leave it Lone Donnie”, with Laughter and smiles. Perhaps Dontay’s greatest gift was his ability to bring laughter to the into any room. His quick wit, playful humor, and contagious laughter could brighten even the darkest of days. He had a knack for finding the humor in life’s everyday moments, and his comedic timing unmatched. Dontay is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Yancey Sr., who certainly welcomed him with open arms into eternity. He is survived by his children Da’Nae Tates, Dontay Yancey Jr., Da”Nera Tates. He Leaves his cherished memory: to his mother Gloria Davis; stepfather Larry Davis; sister Shannon Griffin; brother Herbert Yancey Jr., mothers of children Marjorie Tates & Rhonda Bacote; favorite cousins Nita, Byno, Gill; two nieces and six nephews. Dontay also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren, other family members and friends.
