Donald E. Mack Sr.

Today we assemble to acknowledge and celebrate the new life unto which Donald Mack, Sr. has entered an eternal life in the presence of His God and Lord, his creator. “… A Time to be Born”—Ecclesiastes 3:2 Donald Emmett Mack was born June 1, 1920 in Baltimore, MD. He was the fourth child of the late James Spencer and Mattie L. Hicks Mack. He was a caring, warm, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and cousin. “… A Time to be Trained”—Proverbs 22:6 Donald as he was so affectionately known was a product of the Baltimore City Public School System. He graduated from Carver Vocational Technical High School in 1938. There he was an outstanding athlete in football and baseball. “… A Time to be Saved”—John 30:3 He began his spiritual training at age 4 and gave his life to Christ at the age of 10. He attended the Ebenezer Baptist Church under pastor Rev. Johnny Jones. During his Christian walk he had been an Usher, Trustee and Chairman of the trustee Board. Retiring as Trustee emeritus. Donald has been a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for 85 years. “… A Time to Love”—Ecclesiastes 3:9 On April 1, 1949 Donald E. Mack and Mary J. Brooks entered into holy matrimony. From this union Gloria Mack Eaddy, Guila Mack Creek, Donald Mack Jr. and Avon Mack were born. “… A Time to Labor”—Genesis 3:19 Donald began his career at Goucher College in 1938, were he remained until he started his career at WBAL Radio and TV. He remained there for forty years. He worked part time for twenty-eight years at Sears. “…A Time to Laugh and Dance”—Ecclesiastes 3:4 Donald loved being with family and friends. Most of all he was outgoing and loved to have fun with the young man of Ebenezer and the Super 60’s. He loved to make everyone feel very special. “… A Time to be with the Lord”—Numbers 23:10 Donald Emmett Mack went home to be with Jesus, his wife, parents and siblings who preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn: his daughters, Gloria and Guila; his sons, Donald Jr. (Marsha) and Avon (Toni); one sister, Gwendolyn Andrews; a devoted companion, Martha Gayles; grandchildren, Sinclair Eaddy, Donna Price, Khalilah (Jawan) Yancey, Gary Creek (Rashida), Avon Mack Jr. (Shawnte), Ashley Mack, Donel Mack (Shantia), Keith Wallace and Tony Wallace; daughter-in-law, Viola Mack; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
