Donald P. Fleet

DONALD P. FLEET, SR., son of the late Vernon and Lillian Fleet, was born on February 27, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on January 11, 2016 after a lengthy illness. On May 28, 1953, Donald married the late Enna Williams who was better known as Betty. From that union ten children were conceived: Bravette, Vondalear, Cathelene, Donald, Jr. (deceased), Derek, Kenneth, Gerrod, Eric, Lisa and Denise, one granddaughter, Channell White, that Donald raised as his own. He received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He became a full time employee at Suburban Country Club in January 1952. Donald became a Tennis Maintenance Supervisor. This position allowed him to employ his family members. He provided work for his sons, grandsons, brothers, nephews and both of his daughters, Lisa and Denise. After many years, God blessed him enough to start his own business, Fleet Tennis Court Maintenance Inc. This business allowed him to hire family members to make extra money through the years. Donald received the Suburban Profile for being a superb worker. He was highly respected on his job for working beyond capacity and the call of duty. Donald was a man amongst men and always stood up in his manhood. He lived a God fearing life and in everything he did he practiced. He took care of his parents, sisters and brothers with great respect. His brothers and sisters also respected him by calling him “Chief”. He felt that a man should work and take care of his family even if it meant to take on extra work to meet all their needs. For all the man did, we have the greatest admiration and give him the highest respect for leaving us such a great legacy and passing on his knowledge and wisdom. Donald received salvation in Jesus Christ in 1968 and was baptized with the Holy Spirit. He started attending The First Baptist United Church. Years later, he started attending Nazarene Temple Apostolic Church where he remained until his death. Donald leaves to mourn: his daughters, Vondalear, Cathelene, Lisa J. and Denise Fleet; his sons, Bravette (Connie), Gerrod (Monica), Eric (Lisa R.), Kenneth and Derek Fleet; brothers, Melvin, Ronald, Gilbert, Bernard, Allen, Steven and Jerry; sisters, Joan, Janice, Geraldine, Carolyn and Barbara; grandsons, Bravette Jr., Kenneth, J.R., Brandon, Gerrell (who he fondly called “grandson”), Jordan and Kyle; granddaughters, Channell, Towanna, Saron, Monique, Melanie and two close granddaughters, Tiaira and Lauren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
