Don Hosie Hopkins

Don Hosie Hopkins was called home early Friday morning July 23, 2010, at Bons Secours Hospital. He is the son of June Hopkins Sparatley and the late Martin Adams. Don was born on February 18, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system and subsequently joined the workforce. He worked for many years at Maranto FNS Bakery and he later became a construction worker. Don was also an entrepreneur know as Capricorn 1. He played a variety of music for various affairs and loved to sing with the Young Lads. He also loved to play the tambourine. When we stop to think about Don everyone talks about how it was never fun until he arrived. He would crack jokes and always thought he was right about everything. He was the life of the party. Don was also the home repairman because when the floor model TV broke he would take it apart and clean every tube and wire and put it back together. The funniest thing is the TV would start working again. That TV lived for a very long life. Don was 16 years old when he met and fell heads over heals for Lynette Billups. On June 6,1981, Don and Lynette were married and he proudly told everyone “THIS IS MY WIFE”. They created three beautiful children and were very happy. He took being a father very seriously and the children could not speak slag in the house. They had to complete homework assignments from school daily. Don was a very proud husband and father. There was another side of Don that was in turmoil. He suffered quietly, rarely sharing the pain he carried inside. What most of us saw was his bright and cheery smile. No matter what he was privately going through, he always enjoyed good conversation and a good laugh with family and friends. God knows he will be sorely missed. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lynette; four sons, Don, Michael, Justin, and Gary, and two daughters, Jacqueline and Audrianna; a daughter-in-law Melkia; four grandsons, Anthony, Malik, Makiah and Kahlil and three granddaughters, Jahmiya, McKenzie and Kaliyah; a mother, June Hopkins Sprately; four brothers, Ronald, Zachary, Clifton and Billie; two sisters, Bridgette and Posie; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
