Diane Harris

Diane Harris, a loving daughter, sister, and God's special servant was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 26, 1953 to Edward and Rita Harris. She was one of three brothers and two sisters. A Time to Learn Diane was a product of the Baltimore City Public School System. She attended Booker T. Washington Junior High School, where her love for music began, and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. In the early 70's, Diane enrolled in Morgan State University majoring in music education. There she became an exceptional clarinetist. A Time to Pla nt Diane accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Lutheran Church. Later she became a member of the 1st Church of Christ Scientist where she attended Sunday School. A Time to Labor After leaving Morgan State College, Diane enrolled in the armed services and was immediately accepted into the Army Band following an intense audition over hundreds of great musicians. Diane was a lover of music and could analyze a melody in a unique manner. A Time to Care Diane loved to dance and was real smooth with it. You couldn't tell her nothing, she knew it! One of her favorite songs was "Walking in Rhythm" by Blackbirds. She was called "Doc" by most of her friends. Diane was a warm, kindhearted person who would do anything for anybody. "Di", as she was fondly called by some of her aunts, loved her family and was quite devoted to them. This devotion was more easily seen as her parents became older. She always wanted to live close to them. One could often find Diane assisting her parents with their laundry, running to the store, putting up the Christmas tree to her mother's specifications and taking it down. Every season, Diane meticulously and patiently planted flowers for her mother in her beautiful garden. A Time of Peac e On Tuesday, May 31, 2016, Diane passed into God's eternal peace. She leaves to cherish and to celebrate her memory: loving mother, Rita M. Harris; three brothers, Bobby L. and Jerry L. Harris; sister, Gwendolyn Harris; brother-in-law, Windyl A. Johnson, Sr; three sisters-in-law, Iris and Jacqueline Harris, and Rev. Dr. Sharon Harper; four neices, Crystal P. Harris, Dr. LaKeita Carter (Jarrett), Michelle Harris, Dallas Harper; two nephews, Jerrelle Harris and Dustin Harper; two great-nephews, Jarrett, and Landen; two great-nieces, Trinity and Triston; and a host of relatives and friends. Preceding her in death are: loving father, Edward L. Harris; brother, Rev. Dr. Freddie L. Harper; and sister, Maria Harris.
