Dennis Lee Toliver

Dennis Lee Toliver was peacefully called home to rest on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at the Medical College of Virginia after a longstanding illness.Dennis, the third child of the late Horace Lee Toliver,Sr. and Alfleda Toliver was born on August 31, 1958 in Hanover County, Virginia. Dennis grew up in Hanover County and joined Providence Baptist Church at an early age. He went on to graduate from Patrick Henry High School in Ashland, Virginia after which he furthered his education at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia. After an extended employment with the County of Henrico, Dennis furthered his career ambitions as a commercial hauler for Mega Construction. He remained employed with Mega for many years until his health began to fail. Dennis was an individual who appreciated hard work and discipline and was not content with remaining idle in spite of his failing health. When he could, he often assisted his long time friend Gary Baugh at his automotive repair facility to keep himself active and "sharp".Dennis was a quiet mannered individual who lived his life to the fullest and always enjoyed "good times". He loved children, family, and good home cooked food. Dennis's favorite cars were the Volkswagen "Bugs" and Porsches. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football, and made sure he chose a different team every year to all his own. Dennis was preceded in death by two sisters: Lue Bertha Toliver and Paula Oxendine, and one brother: Horace Toliver, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory two devoted children: Denise Lee "Nisey" and Dennis James "DJ" Loney, both of Glen Allen, Virginia, his devoted mother: Alfreda Toliver of Richmond, VA; three sisters: Chante Toliver (Richmond, VA), Rita Watkins (Richmond, VA), and Karen Toliver (Ashland, VA); one brother: Timothy Toliver (Ashland, VA); a host of aunts and uncles including two devoted uncles: Herman Holman and Louie Holman; one great aunt: Amy Wilson; a host of nieces and nephews with one devoted niece: Keisha Crawford, and one devoted nephew: Shannon Watkins; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including two devoted friends: Virgie Loney and William Green.
