Dennis James Lindsey

Dennis James Lindsey Sr., son of the late Carl B. Lindsey, Sr. and Arnita Mitchell, was born on September 4, 1951. He called u=into the gates of Heaven on May 20, 2009.Dennis attended Fairmount High School. He was a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Upon graduation, he continued his education at Bay College of Maryland where he worked as a Head Chef in the school’s cafeteria while pursuing his degree. In 1975, he received his Associates Degree in Arts. On September 5, 1975, he married college sweetheart, the former Deborah Carroll.Dennis was employed at News America Marketing in Baltimore, Maryland where her worked his way up from a newspaper boy to a supervisor. His dedication was evident throughout his lifetime, always striving to be better than he was yesterday. He then became employed at the Baltimore Sun Paper, where he served as a mail foreman and supervisor for 32 years.He came to know and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 50. He joined Zion Baptist Church where he was a devoted servant of God until his death. Dennis was re-baptized in the summer of 2008. He saw this an act of becoming closer to “his” God.Wherever Dennis went, he made numerous friends. His bright smile could be displayed on any picture taken. He was very positive and always saw the good in everything. Dennis enjoyed all sports and was a die-hard Baltimore Ravens Football and Baltimore Orioles Baseball fan. He was a member of the team, The Hard Hustlers where he was nicknamed “Hopping Gator” for his athletic ability.Dennis was a very jubilant, charismatic and positive person. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend. His most cherished times were spent with his grandchildren. He always said he loved when his grandkids asked, “Pop-Pop, can I have a dollar”He leaves to cherish his precious memory; five biological children, Tiffany, Damon Sr., Tasheba, Lasheba and Dennis Jr. and nine biological grandchildren, India, Cortez, Damon Jr., Ty’Sean, La’Niyah, Malik, Ar’Riana and Derrick Jr., his four stepchildren, Tondra, Michael, William(Snook) and Brandon (who preceded him in death); and six step grandchildren, Kendra, Jasmine, La’Kiera, Michael Jr., Kayla and Chase, whom he loved as his own; seven sisters, Shella, Rose, Anna, Carolyn, Sylvia, Lorraine and Katherine; six brothers, Kerney (Wilco), Charles, Clifton, Andre, and Kevin; two sons-in-law, Derrick Sr. and Darreyl and a very special niece, Annette Young; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives, neighbors and friends.
