Denise Yvette Evans Price

Denise Y. Evans-Price, affectionately known as NeNe, daughter of Laverne and Avon Evans, was born on July 29, 1971, in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life suddenly and unexpectedly on August 22, 2004.Denise attended St. Cecilia’s Parochial School, Rosa Parks Middle School, and graduated from Loch Raven High. She attended Coppin State College for two years, as which she transferred to Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois as a junior with a full honorary scholarship.Denise excelled in debating. She was an orator of the Loch Raven High School debating team. Denise’s tenacity along with her excellent debating style enabled her school to win several awards. She ended her high school education by delivering a moving and thought provoking speech as the graduating classes valedictorian. While attending Coppin State College, Denise became a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Sweethearts. She was pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Northwestern University. While there she pledged the sorority of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Because of her illness, Denise had to leave Northwestern University and return to Baltimore where she worked for the city of Baltimore as a chemical operation’s technician.Her religious life began at the tender age of 12 at Bethel AME Church, pastored by Bishop Bryant. Denise was also an active member of Mt. Lebanon Church, pastored by the reverend Moyd. Her greatest love was to help feed the body of Christ by working in the kitchen of Mt. Lebanon.Denise was loved by many people because of her fairness, kindness and genuineness. Her smile had the ability to sooth away a problem. She was never too tired or bothered to help a friend or a stranger. She also had a giving heart. Denise’s great love for children led to her volunteering to care for the handicap. Her warmth and realism will be sincerely missed by all and her many acts of tenderness will be cherished in the memory of many.She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Eric Simmons; a daughter, Ashley Simmons; husband, Henry Price Jr., caring parents, Laverne and Avon Evans; sister, Angela Evans-Mack; two grandmothers, Mrs. Vernell Gaither and Mrs. Edith Evans; grandfather, Percy Evans; mother and father-in-law, Catherine and Henry Price Sr., nephew, Iman; nieces, Bianca Denise, Nikki, and Nellie; and a host of cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
