Denise M. Wall

DENISE MARGARET WALL, affectionately known as “Apple,” was born on October 10, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Woodrow Wall and Augusta Duncan (Wall). She graduated from Patterson High School in Baltimore, MD, in 1977 and dedicated nearly two decades to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) in Baltimore, Maryland. Denise served with unwavering loyalty alongside her colleagues as an employee, as a union representative with 1199 SEIU for GBMC, and as a passionate political activist during various campaigns. Of all the seasons of her life, she loved this one the most. She said more than once, the people that she served with were her “Family”! The family saw this first-hand, during the end of her life, and while she was working the campaigns. She didn’t miss one campaign. She worked every campaign from Governor Moore to Mayor Scott, and many more. She has pictures of her with them, including one with her hugging Prince Georges’s County Executive, State Senator Candidate Alsobrooks, with Howard County Executive Ball, and more. She is a huge advocate for “Voter Rights”. Denise was known for her love of dancing, magnetic personality, and ability to make friends wherever she went. Her quick wit and colorful language, often punctuated with her candid declaration, “I cuss,” were hallmarks of her spirited character. Those who received her frank expressions knew they had reached a significant place in “Apple’s” life. She loved deeply but was cautious with her trust, a testament to her discerning nature. A devoted and hardworking individual, Denise often arrived hours before the start of her workday, setting an example of dedication and expecting the same from those around her. She eagerly anticipated celebrating her 20th anniversary with GBMC, a milestone reflecting her commitment and perseverance. Denise cherished her friends (and there are a lot of them), and family dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Wall and Augusta (Gussie) Duncan Wall, her former husband, Roland Clark, her son Taivon Clark, and her grandson Devote Clark. Denise leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, cherished by her brother, Kurt W. Wall; her sister-in-love, Stephanie Wall; her great-granddaughter, Kelsi Clark, and great-grandson, Richard Barber; three nephews, Kenard Wall, Daevon Wall, and Kurt Wall Jr.; three great-nieces, Maeyah Wall, Zaida Wall and Aubriella Elliott. cousin, Tiki; long-time roommate Cindy, long-time high school friend Rozie and long-time friend Mike; and so many more people. She is loved deeply and will be missed by many other relatives and close friends who were touched by and lived through the ups and downs of Apple’s life with her, for which she was grateful.
