Delores S. Scott-Porter

Delores Sylvia Scott-Porter beloved daughter of Pearl Alethia Wilson and Frederick Scott was born on June 8, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA. She departed this life on Sunday, July 17, 2016, after battling a lengthy illness. Delores grew up in South Baltimore and was considered one of the finest people there. She attended Baltimore City Public Schools. As a young woman Delores worked at Nicks Inner harbor Seafood and she could sell fish like no other, so much so the community nicknamed her “the fish lady.” She was the epitome of caring person; she would give you the shirt off of her back, she would give you the last dollar out of her pocket sometimes leaving herself nothing, and she took care of many children not just her own. Most called her momma Delores, family was everything to her she lived and died loving her family no matter what they did or how much they broke her heart, she still continued to love and do anything for them. Delores was known for being loving and caring but very “stern” if you did something she didn’t like, she would be sure to tell you “like it is.” She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend you couldn’t ask for a better person, when you already had the greatest. She married her late husband Franklin D. Porter Sr. in 2000. She leaves to mourn seven children Claudette Porter-James (Roland0, Tina Porter-Hill, (Frank, Garland Scott, Joe Krystovick, Denise Joyner, Dwayne Porter (Crissy), Renee Porter; three children who proceeded her in death Andrae Bryant, Franklin D. Porter Jr., and Deborah Porter; two sisters Honey Scott & Monica Scott, two brother in-laws Hosea Porter & Jimmy Dale Porter; fourteen grandchildren Kevin Norris, Shawta Rogers, Donetta Hill, Shanay Joyner, Dwayne Porter (Michel), Shakita Hemphill (Rafael), Tyrone Porter (Erika), Taryn Mitchell (Ryan), Terrance Porter, Latoya Mobley (Donald), Clinton Sellers, Teon James; 30 great-grandchildren; a special daughter Deborah (Pebbles) Brooks; two best friends Boonie Haywood and Claudette Brooks; two good friends who proceeded her in death Willie Mae Washington & Sheila Carter; nieces, nephews, and a host of other devoted family and friends.
