Della Ann Taylor

Della Ann Taylor, daughter of the late Elijah Taylor and Hattie Keels, was born on August 26, 1949 in Lynchburg, South Carolina. After a victorious battle with cancer, Della stepped through heaven’s gates on September 6, 2012 due to renal failure. She was affectionately called “Dell” by those who knew and loved her. She grew up on a farm and had so many fond memories including her horse, Katie. In the late fifties, the family moved to Baltimore, Maryland. Dell was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. At Edmondson High School, Dell ran rack and field. Her event was hurdles. Dell was certified in Early Childhood Education and as a Nursing Assistant. She retired from Meridian Nursing Home. As a child, Dell learned to love the Lord and kept Him close to her heart. Growing up in church, the teaching of the word of God would become tools for her to get through life’s challenging times. Dell met and married the love of her life, Thomas Henry Taylor Jr. From this union, two children were born, Cassandra Taylor-Fields and Thomas Taylor; whom she raised as a widow at the age of nineteen years old. Dell loved and adored her children. Dell’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. Dell was a mother to so many children. She would feed, clothe, take them in and love them as her own. She took trips to the beach and amusement parks, and many shopping sprees with her family. Dell was a very humorous, strong willed and determined woman; even on her job she would boss her supervisor around. Everything she touched had to be done right. Dell enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, movies, talent search reality shows and sports. Della Ann Taylor touched so many lives and will truly be missed. Dell leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Cassandra Taylor-Fields (Rodney) and Thomas Taylor and embraced children, Linwood Jackson (Corinne), Renard Epps and Sean Thompson; her grandchildren, Nastassja Gilliam, Shaanell Tripp, Darius and Trea’ Fields, Brianna Taylor, Dwayne and alex Jackson and Talyia Epps; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Lee, Nicholas Newman and Xavier Newman-Lowe; her siblings, Mary Ennis, Coral Taylor, Yvonne Walker, Reynard Taylor (Rosetta), Bonita Hammond and Anthony T. Taylor (preceding her in death Elijah Taylor, Randolph Taylor and Vincent A. Taylor); her in-laws, Janet F. Deniton, John S. Taylor, Josephine Somerville, Gloria J. Oneal, Reginald K. Taylor (Annette), Deborah A. Graham and Pamela Taylor; and many other relatives and friends.
