Deellear M. Royster

Deellear Morallis Royster, affectionately known as "Dee", was born on March 26, 1920 to the late Emmanuel Morallis and Edith Moore. She peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 20, 2005. Deellear completed her primary and secondary education in the public school system in the City of Baltimore. She was a member of the 1938 Class of Douglass High School. She then pursued additional training by completing Cortez Peters Business School. She began her career working for the Health, Education, and Welfare Bureau in Washington, D.C. and Edgewood, Maryland. In March 1943, she was employed by the Social Security Administration in the Numerical Register section. At the time of her retirement, 1979, she was a supervisor in the Social Security Administration Disability Claims Processing Unit. Dee was united in holy matrimony to Charles Wing. From this union her loving daughter, Charlotte was born. After the death of her husband, Charles T. Wing in 1951, she remained single until she met Elijah Royster, affectionately known as "Jack", who she married on February 20, 1965. Jack departed this life on August 19, 1995. Deellear was a dedicated member of the Mt. Winans United Methodist Church since childhood, She served as Vice President of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Trustee Board, chairperson for Women's Day, Lay Delegate to the Methodist Conventions, member of the Finance Committee, and served on numerous other religious committees. Deellear had a unique ability to organize many successful fund raising events for the church. She is still remembered for the many trips she orchestrated (i.e., the World Fair held in New York City, Sight and Sound Theater, etc.). Prior to her illness, she played a vital role in securing the deed for Mt. Winans United Methodist Church which was the property of Sharp Street United Methodist Church. Deellear was a devoted member of the Order of Eastern Star, Annie S. Banks Chapter 42. She was an esteemed Grand Worthy Matron. Due to her commitment and dedication, she was bestowed a lifetime membership. Traveling was one of her favorite pastimes. She and her husband Jack traveled extensively. They particularly enjoyed traveling in their motor home with their family, friends and members of the "EZ Travelers." In addition to her daughter Charlotte Deellear Wing, she leaves to mourn: devoted granddaughter, Kimberly Camphor and her husband, Arnold Camphor Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Markez Elijah and Kennadi Rhyan; niece, Cecilia Jones, cousin, Alan Harmon and his wife, Thelma; devoted friend, Blanche Powell; and a host of relatives and friends.
