Deborah N. Windley

DEBORAH NETTIE WINDLEY (Debbie) was born on July 8, 1953 to the late Joseph I. Young and Alberta Lassiter Young in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life after a serious illness on February 5, 2018. She was preceded in death by one sister, Maggie Woods and four brothers, Henry Young, David Young, Joseph Young Jr. and Harold White, Jr. Deborah received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools, graduating from Forest Park Senior High School, Debbie attended one year of college at the Community College of Baltimore, majoring in Accounting. Deborah married Clarence Edward Dickerson in September, 1974 in Mr. Rainier, Maryland. Out of this union, a daughter, Jamila and a son, Jamaine were born. Debbie was widowed in September, 1979 following Clarence's death. After years of being a single parent, Deborah met and married Henry Bernard Windley in July, 2002. Deborah began working for the Baltimore City Department of Parks and Recreation in January, 1974, first at the Carroll Park Golf Course then transferring to the Druid Hill Park office, working as an Accounting Assistant. After attaining an Accounting Assistant II position, Deborah transferred to the Baltimore City Law Department in City Hall, where she worked until her retirement due to illness in 2015. Deborah began her early Christian education at First Abyssinia Baptist Church. She later began attending services at Empowerment Temple. Deborah loved her children and her grandchildren, Da'mon and Markus and her family. She had many friends and was a jovial person. She was a good dancer and liked having fun. She like playing games. She loved the movie "The Five Heartbeats" and watched it many times. She also loved playing "Candy Crush". When talking to friends on the telephone she rarely spoke but you could hear laughing frequently. Her husband, "Bernard", was very devoted and loving caregiver after her first stroke. He became her primary caregiver after she came home from the hospital. Many people remarked on how well he took care of Debbie. He was later assisted by Ms. Denise Coles who provided excellent care to Debbie. She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband; her children, Jamila Ayers (Carlton) and Jamaine Dickerson; her grandchildren, Da'mon Dickerson and Markus Knox; sisters, Frances Moore (Robert) and Janie Mae Gordon; brother, Joseph White; special cousin, Mary Windley; uncle, Clarence White; aunt, Edna James; her step children and step grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relaives and friends.
