Deborah M. Jones

Deborah Marie Jones was the eldest daughter of the late Herbert and Dollie Thaniel born on February 12th, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland. She left for glory in the early hours of May 20th, 2014 at her grandson’s home after extensive illness. She loved Jesus whole heartedly and it was that love that was the cornerstone of her faith. She joined in membership at many congregations over the years, but did not necessarily need the confines of a church to worship the lord, for her faith was so deeply rooted that she often found solace in private fellowship with Christ in her home. Deborah matriculated through the Baltimore City Public School System culminating with her graduation in 1965 from Patterson High School. Though this was the extent of her formal education her business savvy and meticulous attention to details rivaled that of Corporate CEOs, thus evident in her 33 years of service to United States Federal Government. She married the late Rufus J. Jones in 1966 and from this union they bore one child Bridget. Deborah had strong maternal sprit, loving nature, and welcoming persona so even though she only birthed one child, she mothered many. Deborah was a leader, the rebel, and the person best known for getting it done. She was also best known as the “Social Butterfly” because when Deborah was part of something you knew it was going to be a good time! Deborah was intense and strong willed as well as loving, she spoke her mind unapologetically and lived her life often in contrast to public opinion unconcerned with “going with grain”. However the depths of her kindness were bottomless and abundant caring for any of God’s children regardless of her own situation. Along with her parents, Deborah is reunited with her late brother Herbert Jr. Left to live in her legacy; her daughter Bridget and son-in law Sam, four grandchildren Brandon, David, Alex, and Brianna, a sister Pamela and brother-in law Dwayne, a nephew Michael, nieces Arielle and Destiny, a great nephew Michael Jr., a niece-in law Chavella and a beloved friend of 30 plus years Mabel as well as host of cousins and friends.
