"I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done." Deborah Dorthea Cousins, 55, was born April 8, 1962 to the late Mary and Leroy Cousins in Richmond, Virginia. She departed this life to be a new angel in heaven on May 31, 2017. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Johnson and her brother, Leroy Cousins, Jr. She attended Albert Hill Middle School and Thomas Jefferson high School where she graduated. She later enrolled in Virginia Commonwealth University and received her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree. For 25 years, she worked at the Emergency Shelter and later was employed at the Department of Social Services for the City of Richmond where she remained an additional 25 years. To know her was to love her. Deborah touched so many lives, bringing sunshine and happiness in many ways to family and friends. She enjoyed going out to eat in fine restaurants and shopping. She was caring about others and always remained a true friend until the end. Deborah will be remembered for her gentle, caring, kind disposition and all the love she always showed her family. She leaves to cherish her loving memory sister, Renita Cousins; two brothers, Clifton Jr. (Thelma) and Sterling Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends, among them one devoted niece, Yanesha Jabbar. May the love of God be with her eternally!
