Deborah Ann Bailey

EVANGELIST BAILEY, the sixth child of the late Evelyn and James Bailey, Jr. was born on January 10, 1958. She went to her building not, made by hands on February 16, 2011 at Union Memorial Hospital. She began attending church at an early age. Evangelist Bailey found her Lord and Savior while attending the Highway Holiness Church of Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor Margaret Holly in 1973. Being filled with the Holy Ghost, Evangelist Bailey was called to the Christian Ministry in the late 1980’s. She was a member of the Old Times Way Church of Deliverance at the time of her passing. Evangelist Bailey was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Mergenthaler Senior High School. Because taking care of people was her passion, she decided to take courses at CCB becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at many places, but never leaving her job of taking care of people. She was last employed at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Evangelist Bailey was a true friend to many. She did her best to be of service to everybody. In her short life she praised God and Fellowshipped with many saints. She felt it was her duty to try to encourage all to come to Christ. Her love for the Church allowed her to travel from state to state for conventions and other ministries that called for her presence. She was an attentive aunt to her nieces and nephews, taking them to many special events while encouraging them to be strong and do the right thing. If they needed her to take them to school or to the hospital, she was always available for them. The same held true for family members and friends. Those who knew her well called her Odie. Those who loved her just called on her. She had a special bond with her sister Denise and dearly loved all her sisters and brothers. She will surely be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and James Bailey, Jr. and one nephew. Left to cherish her memory are: three sisters, Denise Bailey, Diane Nixon-Waller and Donetter Ashe; three brothers, James L., Larry D. and George I. Bailey; one brother –in-law, Roger Waller and one sister-in-law, Pamela Bailey; one great-aunt, three aunts, two uncles, three nephews, Damon, William and Kevin (Jacquetta) Couplin; four nieces, Nikia, Angela, Erica and Denise (Dante) Watson; three great-nephews, William, Dantre and Eric; three great-nieces, Destonee, Mya and Maria; one godsister, Sandy Davis; one godson, Bishop Brian Kenneth Martin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
