Deacon Robert Embry Mason

The Life of Robert Embry Mason Having kept the faith, having fought the good fight,having endured sickness and having finished the race,Robert Embry Mason quietly entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 31,2020. Born on January 2, 1934 in Sussex County,Virginia to the late William Arthur Mason and the late Mary Elizabeth Turner Mason,Robert was one of ten children. After being educated through the Greenville County School system, he moved to Richmond. Robert held several jobs before securing work at Philip Morris USA, where he retired after 25 years of service. Robert was a true believer in God and faithful to His Word and Works. At an early age, he joined Little Shiloh Baptist Church in Jarratt, Virginia. Upon moving to Richmond,he joined Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church. Robert loved his church family and was a faithful servant. He took pride in his service as an ordained deacon,and always had a powerful prayer in his heart that would resonate throughout the congregation,. Robert was doorkeeper serving with the Male Ushers Ministry, and gave his time to the Van Ministry. During summer Vacation Bible School, Robert worked tirelessly to help with its success. His unselfish willingness to serve God and his church was something that gave him great pride. Robert was a lover of many things, but being with family was his greatest joy. Robert was blessed to be married to his best friend for 55 years. he adored his daughters and grandchildren and they reciprocated those feelings. Robert loved spending time at family cookouts and holiday dinners. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Robert was preceded in death by three sisters: Rosa Marie Mason Jones,Mary Jane Mason Rose and Sallie Bea Rose;and five brothers: William Thomas Mason,Leroy James Mason,Noble Andrew Mason,Clifton Henry Mason and Junious Wesley Mason. Robert will be greatly missed by his wife Viola Worsham Mason;four daughters; Robin Hood (Peter), Patricia, Rebecca and Robinette Mason;five grandchildren: Keya Fleming,John and Tierra Hood;Alasia Mason and John Webb;three great-grandchildren;Keyairra and Keyanna Fleming and Keyaun Taylor-Fleming;brother, Jerry Russell Mason;sister-in-law, Rosa Tandy;three brothers-in-law;Joseph Scott,Eddie Worsham,and Frank Worsham (Alice);devoted friends,Deacon Thomas Folly (Deaconess Willnette);and a host of other relatives and friends.
