Davontae Christopher Galloway, Jr affectionately known as “DJ”, was born at Johns Hopkins Bayview Center on July 4, 2013 After putting up a good fight against a lengthy illness, God called him home and he gained his wings on February 27, 2021. Just like fireworks that are lit on Independence Day, DJ was an absolute firecracker !!He lit up everyone's life that he touched in his short but memorable time here from family to friends, nurses to doctors, teachers to classmates. His laugh was infectious and he was an absolute comedian!~ He was extremely witty and would have everyone in stitches with his quick responses and facial expressions. When the beat dropped, he would be the first one to hit the dance floor! DJ had a passion for cooking! He had aspirations to be a chef and on any given day he would be found helping out in the kitchen. He was an excellent cheese cutter (for macaroni and cheese), precise burger patty-er and knew that they key to seasoning anything was a quick “flick of the wrist”. He was his Aunt Candice's trusted confidant and the only one who knew the secret banana pudding recipe! During his life he had amazing culinary opportunities. While on a Carnival cruise. The executive chef invited him to tour the “back of the house” to see how a kitchen operated and as Make -A Wish kid he had a chance to Chef Eric Adjepong. After seeing the Black Panther, DJ fell in love!! His room was decorated in Black Panther for Halloween, he slept in Black Panther pajamas and was surrounded by several stuffed Black Panther animals during his stay at Johns Hopkins Children 's Center. Like the Black Panther, he was a real life superhero. His personality was larger than life, he had a tenacious spirit and the ability to persevere while facing incredible odds. Davontae leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced his life. He was welcomed home by his maternal grandparents, Ruth Williams and Joseph Sanders, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his parents, Ameera Sanders and Davontae Galloway, Sr paternal grandparents,Trena Houston and Charles Galloway, Sr. brother Brayon Galloway, aunts Candice Snowden, Khamiya Chambers, Shamera and Shatera Peay, uncles Teijuan Baltimore and Charles Galloway, Jr. and a host of family and friends that adored him. While DJ's life seems short to many, those were touched by him understood that the quality of his existence for exceeded the quantity of the time that he lived.
