David Thomas

David Thomas, son of Madeline Claxton and the late Roland Thomas, was born on March 23, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life suddenly on January 22, 2005. David was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Dunbar Senior High School. Upon graduation David, also known as Peanut, went to work at the C&P Telephone Company. He left briefly for six weeks of basic training in the Army Reserve. Alter basic training he resumed his employment with C&P Telephone Company where he remained a faithful and dedicated employee for thirty-one years until his retirement in 2001. David was blessed with his precious daughter, Donta Nicole, from a previous union. He met and married the love of his life, Jacqueline Theresa, and grew to love and cherish her son, Douglas, as his own. David loved games of chance and was known to travel far and wide to explore his options. David and Jaki were inseparable and traveled extensively in the United States for the enjoyment of seeing the country together. Peanut was more than a father, husband, brother, cousin or friend to all who knew him. He always went the extra mile for those he loved and cared for. David's generosity knew no bounds and he gave of himself openly and without hesitation. He was an exceptional son to his mother, who resides at Hamilton Nursing Center, who he visited and cared for daily. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, a cheerful smile and a word of advice to all who were in need. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Madeline Claxton; his loving and devoted wife, Jacqueline Theresa Thomas; his precious daughter, Dont‡ Thomas Watterson; his step-son, Douglas Austin; grandson, Rob Clark; brothers, Robert Sneed, Lloyd Thomas, Ronald Winder and William Claxton; son-in-law, Kevin Watterson; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Mills Greene and Deborah Ayers; brothers-in-law, Larry Austin, Sylvester Greene; eighteen nephews, eighteen nieces, nineteen great-nephews, twenty great-nieces, six beloved cousins; his life long best friend, Ronnie Player, and a host of other relatives and friends.
