David L. Scott

David Lee Scott departed this life on December 16, 2004 after a long illness. He was born on April 3, 1925 in Charlotte County, Virginia to the late Mary Francis and Herbert W. Scott. Coming from a large family of ten children, he was the youngest of three brothers, two who preceded him in death (Walter and Whitfield Scott) and five sisters who preceded him in death (Betty, Maureen, Gertrude, Sarah and Pauline). He received his education at the St. Douglas School. He was also a member of the St. Douglas Baptist Church. He left home at a very early age to join the United States Navy where he served his country for twenty-one years, retiring in 1963. "Lee" as most people who knew him well called him, was always a hard worker. He worked numerous jobs. He worked at the U.S. Postal Service, several bus companies, Sears & Roebuck and Johns Hopkins Hospital, from which he retired in 1995. He joined the John Wesley United Methodist Church, under the Pastorate of Reverend Calvin B. Crosson and had remained a faithful member. He drove the church bus for many years and also helped out in the soup kitchen. On June 16, 2002, he was honored on Father's Day for his dedicated services to the church. His greatest joy was driving down to Virginia every opportunity he got to see his family. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife of forty-one years, Rosalee Johnson Scott; two sisters, Emma Edmonds of Charlotte County, VA and Hattie Hill of Richmond, VA; nieces, Phyllis Baker, Patsy Scott, Artie Williams, Robinette Jeter, Alvina Burton, Terry Hill, Francis Calvin, Claudia Scott, and Ameta, all of Virginia and Verdell Davis, Margaret Rose Pickett and Sis of Baltimore, MD. He also leaves: nephews, Chelsea Morton (wife, Dianne), Buster and Joseph Scott of Baltimore, MD, and James Edmonds (wife, Linda) of Richmond, VA; brothers-in-law, Flood Edmonds of Charlotte County, VA, Virginia and Charles Johnson of Baltimore, MD; mother-in-law, Dorothy J. Johnson of Baltimore, MD; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Brooks, Laura Claiborne, Elaine Hubbard, all of Baltimore, MD, and Barbara Scott of Richmond, VA; a host of great-nieces and -nephews, family and friends.
