At the young and vibrant age of 22, David Lee Jackson Jr., affectionately known as LJ, passed away on New Year’s Eve 2024 in Richmond, Virginia. Born on July 30, 2002, LJ’s life, though brief, was filled with meaning and purpose. His humility, courage, calm demeanor, radiant smile, and generous heart left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed by his loving parents, David and Shahidah Jackson; his devoted sister, Pryncess; his always encouraging extended family; and countless caring friends. A celebration of LJ’s remarkable life will be held on January 18, 2025, where his legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will be honored. LJ’s educational journey took him through Henrico County Public Schools, where he later graduated from Church Hill Academy. He continued his studies at Virginia Union University and Fortis College in Richmond, embodying a spirit of perseverance and dedication. LJ’s contributions to his family, friends, and community were heartfelt and immeasurable. He gave of himself unconditionally, offering not just his time and talents but a lifetime of love and care during his brief time on earth. In a final act of unmatched courage and selflessness, LJ gifted the precious gift of life to others by donating eight of his organs, blessing five recipients. For this extraordinary generosity, he was celebrated with a Hero Honor Walk at the Medical College of Virginia (MCV), a testament to the incredible impact of his final moments. To know LJ was to witness his unwavering love for his family, friends, and community. He possessed a natural charisma and quiet strength, making him a genuine leader who inspired those around him through his actions rather than words. LJ’s talents were as diverse as they were remarkable, including drawing, writing raps, playing basketball,football, track and field, interior decorating, and, above all, deeply loving those around him. Though LJ’s time with us was far too short, his impact will resonate for generations to come. His life stands as a testament to the enduring power of kindness, courage, and unconditional love. As we celebrate LJ’s memory, we are reminded to carry forward the lessons he taught us—to lead with love, inspire through action, and cherish every moment with those we hold dear. Rest peacefully, LJ; your light will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved you. You will never be forgotten
