David Eugene Howard

DAVID EUGENE HOWARD passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2016. He entered into this world on August 3, 1955 to Elsie M. Howard and was raised in Owings Mills, MD. He was the husband of Joy Dett-Howard, and father to Danielle A. Howard. He had a special bond with his Aunt Lorraine whom her lovingly called “Mommy.” He received his formal education in the Baltimore County Public School system. Davin joined the United States Marine Corp in 1974 where he served as an Amtracker with a primary military occupation (MOS) of 1933. David earned a National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Expert Badge, Good Conduct Medal and received an honorable discharge in 1976. He also attended Coastal Carolina Community College and Catonsville Community College where he trained as a Master Mechanic. David had a lifetime passion for cars and worked in the Automobile Industry for many years as an ASE Certified Automobile Technician. Whenever anyone had an issue with their car, David was sure to be the first to be called for he was always ready to help a friend in need. He even built a race car that her affectionately named “Joy Ride” after his wife. He had a smile for everyone. Aside from his huge personality, that is the one endearing trait that anyone, regardless of if they only met him once or knew him for years, would always mention. The energy that radiated through his magnetic smile and outgoing personality, you couldn’t help but smile back. Nothing could light up a room like his presence and the laughter in his voice. He had a way of touching the lives of everyone he came across, from kids to his elders. David accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church. He later became a member of Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he was a member for numerous years under Pastor H. Lorraine Harvey. He was a member of the Steward Board and sang on the Male Choir. He leaves ot mourn: his wife and daughter, Joy and Danielle Howard; mother, Elsie Howard; two brothers, William “Doug” Montgomery (sister-in-law, Sharon) and Gregory Howard; nephews, William, Douglas and Christopher Montgomery and Christopher Howard; neice/goddaughter, Ashley Montgomery; uncles, Harry Howard, Ronnie, Rusty and Aundra Ghee; aunts, Lorraine Harvey, Jeanette Howard, Myrtice Hockaday, Carolyn Smith, Cynthia Ghee, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
