D`Ashawn Leon Lewis

D’Ashawn Leon Lewis was born to Nicole Lewis and Larry Owens on February 10, 1994 in Richmond, Virginia. He departed this life November 30, 2011, to be one of God’s newest angels. He was a rising Senior at Highland Springs High School with the anticipation of graduating in June 2012. He was a member of the football team as a “Line Backer” and a member of the “Special Team”. He also served on the track team as a “Shot Putter”. While being on the JV in 2010, D’Ashawn received an award for Defensive Linebacker of the year. He was proud to be a Springer and wear “black and gold”. D’Ashawn was a vibrate young man that had plans for his life. He was full of life and his spirit was so radiant that when he was in the room you knew. He was outgoing, spontaneous, fun and a caring person. It was nothing for him to befriend you and be a part of your life. He taught himself the things he wanted to learn, he filled his time with activities that brought him joy, and he found a community (Highland Springs) to share his life with. D’Ashawn’s zest for life was incredible and infectious, loving music and dancing so much that he and his friends started a dance group. He danced into the night and loved it. “Dancing was everything. It was intoxicating to him.” D’Ashawn didn’t just learn the dances, he was the dance. He was also known for his huge appetite. D’Ashawn had Christ in his life. He received his spiritual guidance from St. Paul’s Baptist Church as a member and had a heart of gold. Our beloved D’Ashawn will be missed by all. I know that he lives in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory to loving parents, Nicole Lewis and Larry Owens; four sisters, Zikera Jefferson, Precious Waddy, LaMya and Tyjuana Owens; four brothers: Cequan Jefferson, Larry Owens Jr., Lakye Owens, and LaeKwon Morton; maternal grandparents, Stella (Malik) Mujahid and James Leon Jackson, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Rev. Lynda Owens-Ford and John Ford; great-grandparents, Lowery and Ressiva Lewis; great great-grandfather, Issac Lewis; aunts, Barbara (Michael) Parham, Tiera Jackson, Leilani Moss; uncles, Joseph Brown, Darrell Moss, Solomon “T-Boo” Owens, Timothy (Tanya) Thompson and Fareed (Chante) Saunders; two devoted friends, T. J. Nelson and Jarius Coleman; one loving, Zalexis Philip; and a host of other relatives and friends.
