Darlette Johnson

The Life of Darlette Jorene Johnson After 14 years of brain and lung cancer, Darlette caught the wings of an angel on July 1, 2024, and changed her address for a place of peace. She no longer lives here anymore. A sunset here on earth is a sunrise in heaven. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Ellis Johnson (Harmonizing Four), sister, Deborah Johnson; brother, Keith L. Johnson, grandfather, Thomas Johnson, Jr. (Harmonizing Four), grandmother, Sarah L. Johnson; maternal grandfather, Ernest L. Walker; and grandmother, Mable Hunter Walker. Darlette was baptized at Zion Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia, and later joined the fellowship of St. Peter Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Kirkland Walton. During her active years, Darlette served in the Drama Ministry, and the Kitchen Committee and attended summer bible school. Darlette was educated in Richmond Public Schools. She later joined the Peace Corps and then moved on to the U.S. Army where she served for three years. Darlette was quiet, kind, and always had a cheerful disposition. She was always ready to help wherever she could. She showcased her talents in the Drama Ministry and was in many of the featured plays. She had a fun-loving personality and became a devoted fan of the animated character, Mickey Mouse. She had a collection of Mickey Mouse memorabilia that she adored. Although quiet in nature, she was a strong warrior who bore her lengthy sickness in a courageous way. Her life over these 14 years had been filled with many hospital and doctor visits, she rose from three diagnoses by the doctors that indicated that she would not live more than three to six months three years later she was diagnosed to live 30 days and then 2 weeks and yet she lived for fourteen years. She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted son, Delron Evan Johnson (Grace); her loving mother, C. Adrena Johnson; two brothers, Ellis Sarron Johnson, and George Johnson; three nieces, Adria Mayo, Candace, and Raven Johnson; one nephew, Cedric Johnson; five great nieces, Chamaree Shelton, Joneek Walker, Destani Scott, Damali Johnson, and Mone Scott; two great nephews, Amir Mayo and Tyshawn Walker; two great-great nieces, Rylei Thomas and Noni Walker; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Johnson, and Gail Johnson; several cousins, relatives, church family, and friends.
