Darlene A. Brewer

On Monday morning, March 1, 2004, the late Darlene Ann Brewer heard the gentle whisper of our Lord and Savior. His words were sweet and loving as he summoned his child home. She went obediently and we are certain she was welcomed into the gates of heaven by friends and family passed on before.Darlene was the youngest child born to the late Betty f. Brewer and John Brewer. Her mother and grandmother raised and nurtured her at the family homestead on Dorsey Road. She was educated in the Anne Arundel County school systems and graduated from Meade Senior High School. Darlene’s creative nature led her to cosmetology school where she studied hair and nail care. She especially enjoyed braiding and coloring. Darlene was a loving and kind person who had an inner strength not easily matched. Each of life’s obstacles was overcome, leaving behind a newfound wisdom and increased courage. Her acquaintances and friends describe her as “sweet” and “nice.”Darlene was no stranger to God. She possessed a strong spiritual background fostered by her Grandmother, the late Bessie Mundell and the “Mother” of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was baptized at an early age and recently re-devoted her life to Christ. She was often observed praising and thanking God for his blessings when she arose in the morning. Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm.Darlene was the mother of five wonderful children. Her love and support was obvious as she encouraged her oldest son to complete college. Her last wishes were to attend Devin’s graduation on Saturday 28, 2004. She did not physically make that appointment but was present in our hearts. That same evening the family watched her joy as she held on to the diploma and ran her fingers across the words on the certificate. Darlene was blessed with talented twins, Brandon and Cameron. Brandon used his technology interests to ensure his mother could view movies, watch television and play games using the latest equipment. Cameron is a published poet at the age of fourteen and responded to his mother’s love and devotion by dedicating his copyrighted works to her. Darlene’s youngest children, Shameka and Shannon, openly displayed and abundance of love, warmth and helpfulness during her illness.We are grateful for the life and memory of Darlene. She will forever live in the hearts of her loving children, Devin, Brandon, Cameron, Shameka and Shannon; devoted sisters, Jane Rawls, June Hebron, Brenda and Linda Brewer; a caring brother-in-law, Wayne Hebron; nieces, Tonya Ross, Candice Hebron and Tiffany Cook; nephews, Wayne Hebron II and Charlton Allen; two great nieces; one great nephew; a close cousin and best friend, Lena Marie Benton; and many other relatives, friends and associates.
