Darin D. Brown

Darin Donell Brown was born July 28, 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Vern and Chris Brown. Darin, the oldest son, departed this life suddenly on January 12, 2016. Darin, who grew up in Baltimore, loved God; he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at New Shiloh Baptist Church. He received his education at Edmondson High School and Coppin State University. Darin was an outspoken man, a jokester, who loved to get a reaction out of people. He spoke his mind and loved to have controversial conversations. He’d give advice and then end the conversation saying, “I don’t want to be preachy or anything.” Darin was a talented man, who played the trumpet and lacrosse and was a member of ROTC. He was a stylish man, who loved his hats and nice cars, as well as a man of many interests and hobbies. He liked things with a “bang,” whether it was shooting off fireworks or practicing at the firing range. He loved motorized toys, remote-control cars and helicopters. He really was a kid at heart. Darin also appreciated being one with his thoughts. It was one of the reasons he became a trucker. He loved the freedom of the open road, where he had the opportunity to visit all 48 of the contiguous United States. He enjoyed the relaxation he found in pursuits like gardening or fishing, which he sometimes took his boys on outings to do. He also loved to spend precious time alone with Sonja on weekend getaways. Most of all, Darin was a family man. Nothing meant more to Darin than his boys, Khalil and Jordan. He loved them very much. As a child, Darin worked hand in hand with his dad fixing homes. He loved spending time with his younger brother, Vern, Jr. He loved to grill and just spend time with his family, having a good time, watching football on TV, or watching the boys play baseball and football and wrestling with them. He called his mother to speak with her every day, and she was the last person he spoke with before his passing. “He said, "I love you so much, Mommy," Ms. Chris recalled, “and I told him I love him, too.”One of the things Darin was always known to say was, “Appreciate it!” Well, all of those who knew and loved Darin appreciated him—and they will dearly miss him. “He gave me his love, and I gave him my love,” Ms. Chris said, “and I hope to meet him again sometime, someday.” Darin Brown was a good man. He leaves to mourn: his beloved, Sonja Sharif; his sons, Khalil Sharif and Jordan Brown; his parents, Vern, Sr., and Chris Brown; his sister, Lisa Brown; brother-in-law, Raymond Brown; his brother, Vern Brown, Jr.; sister-in-law, Lisa Brown; nieces Alaina and Sydney Brown; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues. Darin Brown was all about family. At this time of profound grief, his family wishes to thank everyone for their support, acts of kindness and words of comfort.
