Dante Demetrius Johnson

On July 2, 2016, Dante Demetrius Johnson, departed this earthly life for his heavenly home. Born to Valarie Johnson and John Johnson on March 28, 1991, in Richmond, he accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church. He was a 2009 graduate of Highland Springs High School, and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in December 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, where he was a founding father of the VCU Chapter of Triangle Fraternity. Dante was instrumental in building and maintaining his 'family." While in college, he was employed with the National Park Service. After college, he moved to Reston, Virginia, to work as a Program Analyst at Trailblazer Innovations, Inc., where he was given the opportunity to travel the world. Dante lived life to the fullest. He always strived for the best and generously shared with those he held dear. He learned to cook from his grandmother, Bernice Scott, and co-partnered with his cousin, Tarika, in the kitchen for every family dinner. He was best known for his pound cake. His love for family and friends was evident in all that he did. He was always sensitive to the feelings of others, yet straightforward and convicted; a strong personality with a heart of gold and a great sense of humor. His smile lit up the room. He leaves to mourn their loss his mother Valarie Johnson; father John Johnson; siblings Shanicqua Howell, Stephen Howell, and Brianna Johnson; niece Janique Howell; nephew Joaquim Howell; aunts Jacqueline Johnson, Teri Scott and Darlene Woodfin; uncles Kenneth Whiting, Deotis Johnson, Desi Scott, and Fitzgerald Johnson (Schanise); many cousins with whom he had a special bond, notably Tarika Scott, Donna Christian, Dina Scott, Jamil Scott-White, Tronell Wynn, Ashia Gee, Eron Townes, Amber Moore, and Bravone Howard; a host of other relatives and friends, notably Mike, Tracy, Mac, and Caitlyn Hicks, as well as Ketwon, Michael, Rafael, Stephen, and Antonio, of the Cool Lane Estates neighborhood, and siblings of the heart, Sheree, Sylvester, and Stephen Howell . He was preceded in death by his grandparents Purcell and Virginia Johnson and John and Bernice Scott; aunts Gina Scott, Betty Whiting, and Rachel Robinson; and uncle William Savoy. As Dante would say whenever we left each other at the end of the day, "Goodnight, love you, have pleasant dreams," our special angel, until we meet again.
