Dante E. Bracey

DANTE ERIC BRACEY, son of Patrice S. Bracey and Derrick E. Smith, was born on July 28, 1987 in Bronx, New York. He departed this life on August 2, 2007 at the age of twenty. He received his GED while in Boot Camp on May 30, 2007. He knew that completing his education would make his mommy proud of her Baby boy. He could tell that his mommy always believed in him even when he didn’t believe in himself. Throughout Dante’s experience at the boot camp, he gained a new perspective on life. He knew that he was being taught everything his mommy taught him about growing up to be a good man and to respect all Gods’ ways of life. He realized that God’s world was full of good and evil challenges, and he realized that he was the one who had to make the right choices for himself.He used to think that fast money was the answer to helping his family and after completing Boot Camp he realized that it’s not worth it if it’s not honest work that he could be proud of. All he ever wanted to do was take care of his mommy and his two baby brothers. That was his life-long goal, and Dante wanted us to do it together as a family; as one. He knew it would be a struggle and he was willing to face it head on. Dante felt the need to help others like himself who lost their way at a young age find a new profound perspective on life through his life-long struggles. “I'm Just Like My Mommy!!” he said. As his Mommy, his Queen (that Dante would call me everyday), I knew that Dante Eric Bracey, the son of Patrice S. Bracey, found his way back into Gods’ footsteps, and Dante is now, and always will be, The Son Of God, and his Mommies’ Mr. Man!!! Dante knows he has his mommy’s and his brother’s hearts in his hands. Dante made numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. He was always a true friend and a devoted family man.He leaves to mourn: his mother, Patrice S. Bracey; two brothers, Hasan T. Bracey and Daquan L. Bracey; one grandmother, Shirley Bracey; one aunt, Regina A. Williams also known as his godmother who baptized him in God's house; and his cousin, Michelle S. Williams also known as his godsister; two uncles, James T. Logan and Robert C. Bracey; three stepfathers, several aunts, several uncles, several cousins, two godparents, a host of other relatives and friends.
