Cynthia D Wicks

CYNTHIA DENISE WICKS, was born on September 6, 1954 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland to the late Everett and Mary (Bogier) Wicks. She departed this life on July 29, 2023 at Future Care Irvington. Cynthia’s education ended prematurely, however as a teen, she was given an opportunity to become a Unit Secretary in Shock Trauma at University of Maryland Hospital. She moved on to working in the Cancer Center and Bone Marrow department. Cynthia became ill, then resided in Future Care for the past ten years. Cynthia made friends wherever she went, and was loved and adored by many. Everything about “Cookie” was undeniably infectious, contagious and magnetic. She had the sweetest soul and biggest heart. She adored her son, her brothers Anthony and Everett III, grandchildren, and friends. During her ten year stay at Future Care, although frustration had taken over, she cherished the phone calls and visits she received. She always spoke of being very appreciative of a close family friend, Sherronda, who first tended to her when she became ill, and periodically continued to extend that care. Cynthia would light up when she was receiving all of her favorite foods and snacks. She loved those holidays when Mikey would come with either soul food, or her requested McDonalds meal, entered her room with music, singing, and watching old movies she loved. Her son and many others tried to make her stay there as comfortable as possible. Cynthia became tired over time and knew when her time was near. She spent her last two days with her devoted son and grandson. Cynthia talked and smiled at one of the nurses before closing her eyes for the last time, in the 8 o’clock night time hour. Cynthia always received an abundance of love and gratitude from her coworkers, Elaine, Peggy, Gloria and so many others. Everyone love Cookie! Some referred to her as their “Cookie Monster”, and “The Crown Princess of Charm”. Aside from loving her color purple, she enjoyed bowling, her music, dancing, singing, movies, playing spades, and loved spending time with family. Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory: her son Mikey; her brothers, Anthony and Everett; her grandchildren, Michael III, Kenny, Zachary; her great grandchildren, Jackson and Noah; her nephews, Tony, Derrick; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
