The Legacy of Cynthia Jean Tolbert "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing,shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Jesus Christ our Lord Romans 8:38 Mrs. Cynthia Jane Tolbert was blessed with life on July 29, 1954 and call home to eternal rest on August 22, 2013. She is the daughter of the late Wade and Mary Williford of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Cynthia was a serving member of the Union Branch Baptist Church volunteering both her time and energy to the Church's Daycare and LIbrary. Shortly after graduating from Beaver Falls High School, Cynthia join the Army and served in the Finance Corps with duty assignments at Belgium, Monterey, California, Japan, Fort Sheridan, Illinois, Germany, and Fort Carson, Colorado. In the fall of 1980,while assigned to Camp Zama Japan,she met Jim;they were married on April 9,1982 in Tokyo Japan. During their next assignment to Fort Sheridan, Illinois, Cynthia earned her college degree from Columbia College shortly before giving birth to Courtney Chanel on August 11, 1984. Following Courtney's birth she and three-month-old Courtney joined Jim who had already departed to Germany. There she would give birth to Bryan Christopher on June 29, 1986 in Stuttgart, Germany. She would conclude a successful 20 year career in July 1994 to focus on raising her two children. Cynthia, Jim, Courtney and Bryan relocated to Chesterfield, Virginia in the summer of 1996; She initially worked as a Bank Teller prior to joining the Chesterfield County Treasurer’s Office. She worked there for 12- years opting for an early retirement in June 2012. Throughout her more than 38 years since she set out to discover the world beyond Beaver Falls, Cynthia has lived in and traveled extensively while enjoying God’s precious gift of life. Her travels have taken her to Aruba, Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, China, Curacao, England, France, Germany, Haiti, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Mexico, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Switzerland. Cindy love to make her own unique one-of-a-kind jewelry, showcasing her creation at home jewelry parties and at community festivals. Her life’s journey will be cherished by her husband, Jim of 31 years ;daughter, Courtney; son, Bryan; sisters, Loretta “Tida” Smith of New Brighton, Pennsylvania, Patty Elazier of Denver, Colorado, Peggy “Suzy” (Ed)Dreher of Sacramento ,California, Sheila Thomas of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania and Denise Thomas of Detroit, Michigan; brother ,Leon Thomas of New Brighton, Pennsylvania; aunts, Rose Moore of Columbus, Ohio and Ida Gordon of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, nieces, Keisha, Shamara and the Laquita; nephews,Jabo, Reggie, Mark and Ravon, and a host of great- nieces; great -nephews, cousins and friends. Cynthia also raised eight loving “four-legged felines” (Heathcliff, Heather, Zoe, Xena, Zeus, and Plato) leaving both Apollo and Ashes to miss her tender loving care.
