Curtis Russell Lee Sr.

On April 15, 1944, Deacon Curtis Russell Lee, Sr. was born to the late Deacon Carol, Sr. and Deaconess Mable Lee in Hanover County, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his sisters Carolyn Smith, Mary Washington, Ann Wilson and his brother Carol Lee, Jr. He departed this life on Thursday, November 24, 2022. He was education in Hanover County at John M. ,Gandy School. After graduation, he worked a few jobs before he began his career at Supervalu(Richfood) as a truck drive and later transportation supervisor. He retired after 39 years of service. He also attended University of Richmond later in life and received an Associate’s degree in Business. After retirement, he worked as a mail courier for the Bon Secours Hospitals. Dea. Curtis loved sports and was especially an avid Dallas Cowboys and Washington Nationals fan. At an early age, Deacon Lee was baptized at Rock Hill Baptist Church under the late Rev. E. M. Charity and later ordained as a Deacon. Dea. Lee was a faithful and dedicated member who currently or in the past served as a trustee, Sunday school teacher, Gospel Chorus and Male Chorus. He also served as President of the Chickahominy Deacons Conference and Virginia State Baptist Deacons Convention. When he attended the area church revivals, you could find him singing “Guide Me Lord, While I Run this Race” during Prayer and Praise Service. Dea. Curtis leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Doris Lee, two sons, Curtis Lee, Jr. and Carlton Lee, three daughters, Charita Cannon(Freddie), LaShonda Shelton and LaFonda Shelton, one stepson, Antonio Doswell, seven grandchildren, Jamar Wilson, Charnise Johnson (Kelin), Quadazia Lemons,Kalei Pryor, Semiah Clare, Asia Clarke, Kassidy Pryor, six great-grandchildren, two brothers, Walter Lee, Norbert Lee (Brenda), six sisters, Lillie Gaines, Ruby Jefferson(Alfred), Bettie Lee, Valerie Thomas(Haney), Sylvia Carter(Gary), Aleatha Johnson(Clarence), one aunt, Jean Law, mother-in-law, Theresa Dabney, three brothers-in-law,William Fox(Hanna), James Dabney(Yvonne), Louis Dabney(Mena) three sisters-in-law, Jannie Butler(Alphonso), Ercell Dabney, Bettye Jackson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends, one devoted Ben Clark.
