Corey Dewon Price

It is with heartfelt admiration and gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of Corey D. Price, who departed this life on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the age of 51 in Richmond, VA. Corey was born on February 14, 1974, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Wanda Price-Hagood and Mathew Brown Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wanda Price-Hagood and Dennis Hagood; his grandparents, Helen and Mathew Brown Sr., Jola Brown-Roy; and William and Hallie Beatrice Price. And his beloved aunt, Ellen Hall. Corey attended Douglas Freeman High School, where he later graduated in 1994. Corey was a man of quiet strength, boundless generosity and unwavering devotion. His life was a testament to faith, integrity, love and a shining example of fatherhood. Through every challenge and joyful moment, he stood as a pillar of support; offering wisdom, comfort and unconditional love. He gave selflessly, led humbly and loved fiercely. His hands built a home and a foundation of values that will continue to guide us. His smile warmed our hearts, his stories enriched our lives, and his presence was a gift we will always cherish. Corey leaves behind a legacy that lives on. He is survived by his devoted fiancée, April Briggs of Richmond, VA; his loving daughters, Alecia J. Price and Desiree R. Price; and his extended children: Dominique Vincent Jr., Alysia Vincent, Dasani Morton, and Jaiden Derricott, all of Richmond, VA. His grandchildren include Aniyah Price, Aiden Thompson, Au'Breana Gibbon and Lamont Jackson III. His cherished siblings: Tamisha Lee Griffin (Hatchel) of Rahway, NJ; Tikesha Harris of Greenville, SC; and Tamirah Smith of Avenel, NJ. His extended siblings include Adrian Williams (East Orange, NJ), Leslie Williams (Las Vegas, NV), Tyler Williams (Magnolia, DE), Dennis Williams Jr. (East Orange, NJ), Rosalie Sims (Wilmington, DE), Paulette Williams (Atlanta, GA), and Allen Williams (Greenwood, DE). Corey shared an unbreakable bond with his dear aunts, Wilnett Scott (Powhatan, VA) and Celestine Woodson (Midlothian, VA), and his uncles, Isaac Tucker (Joyce) and Kenny Brown (Charlotte) of Elizabeth, NJ. In addition to his immediate family, Corey leaves behind a chosen family of close friends and companions-especially Corey McMurray, Mark Thomas, Chris Dickson and Eric Hatch— who stood by him through every season of his life.
