Cora Elaine Smith

OBITUARY Cora Elaine Smith was born in King William County (Manquin, Virginia) to the late Paige Theodore Smith and Viola Wilkerson Smith on Aug 13, 1938. She was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Beverly Smith. She graduated from Hamilton Holmes High School which is now Hamilton Holmes Elementary School. She was baptized at Rock Spring Baptist Church in 1947 under the Leadership of Rev. A.D. Clark. During the years she sang on the Inspirational Choir and Sanctuary choir, assistant secretary for the Sunday School and Missionary Circle, Chairperson for the Hospitality ministry and Chairperson for the Program Ministry. In 2019 she started supporting First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and later joined and was given right hand of fellowship under the Leadership of Pastor Curtis Harris, Jr. a loving church family where the word goes forth and her daughter has been musician for over twenty yrs. She served on the First Mt. Calvary Women’s fellowship. She was a member of the Pamunkey Baptist Association, member of the Women’s Fellowship of PBA, member of the King William Branch NAACP, awarded the Lifetime pin from the Baptist General Convention of Va. Where she attended the Conventions far and near, member of the Area A2 Division of Women of Baptist General Convention of Va. and attended and supported the Virginia Union Day program. Elaine was employed by the Raphael Family for nearly sixty years, where they told her she was not an employee, but one of the family. She retired with many years of dedicated service. Elaine enjoyed cooking and word puzzles. She enjoyed going on vacation driving all over the states. The most exciting vacation was a cruise to the Bahamas. Elaine is survived by a loving and dedicated family, daughter Wanda Charity (Rodney), Granddaughter Teela Tyler (Antonio) great granddaughters Nalaiah and Kimy’a Williams, Sisters Annie Smith, Bertha Washington (Robert) Niece Gail Thornton, Nephews, Robert (Bobby) Washington, Jr., Barry Washington and Timothy Smith. Great niece Shalyn Washington, Great Nephew Breon Washington, great-great niece Kennedy Washington. Goddaughter Minister Patrice Jones (Charles) and kids Joy and CJ. Bonus sister Mrs. Mattie Morton
