Copeland J Mario

Mario Jerome Copeland, the son of Betty Ann Copeland and the late Sam Lee Carroll Sr., was born on March 3, 1969. He transitioned from this life on Friday, June 1, 2018. Mario received his education in Baltimore City Public Schools and received training in automotive services. He had various jobs fixing cars and working in construction. He also tried his hand at entrepreneurship forming several small businesses. Mario is known for being friendly and having a big heart. Mario was loved and respected by so many. Children easily gravitated to his fun and loving personality. Whenever you saw Mario, he would have a smile and kind word for you. He was also willing to "call you out" if needed. Mario was known for trying to impart wisdom whenever he could. Some of his favorite saying were: "You can learn a lot from a dummy." "Don't say bye, it's see you later.", "Wild Coon" and "Hurt People, Hurt People." He was known by several nicknames, and was affectionately called: Skeeter, Pun, and Old Man. Like his grandfather, who preceded him in death, Mario loved old westerns. Gunsmoke was his favorite. Mario had a love for good food--he had a fondness for potato salad made with Miracle Whip. He also loved to smell good, letting you know that Issey Miyake was a favorite. He was a gentle giant with a big heart. On September 29, 2000, Mario married his wife Erica Copeland. From this union, they had one child Shemika Copeland, who predeceased him and two step-children, Lamont Moore and Tiana Moore, they resided in Baltimore. He was a husband, father, grandfather and brother who was loved, cherished, and simply adored by all. He was strong in his Muslim faith since the late 1980's. He practiced his faith at El Hop Mosque in Baltimore City. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Erica, mother, Betty, daughter Marquita, sons Mario, III, Stephon, Mario Jr. and Marquise; grandchilden, Serenity, Teraz; step-children Lamont and Tiana; mother Betty Ann, and siblings Stephon (predeceased), Deeneen, Eunice, Larry, Sammie, Jr. and Leonard; aunts and uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a dear god-sister Toya, Goddaughter Daireona, close friends Jerry Osborne and Eddie Smith, and other relatives and special friends.
