Constance Felecia Irby

Legacy of Life Constance F. Irby was born December 24, 1969 in Martinsville, VA to Hylton DeCasta Hairston and Peggy Belinda Vernon. She departed this life on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by grandparents Roy Vernon Sr., Nannie Vernon, Peggy H. Hairston, and sister Angela Hairston. Constance received her formal education at Laurel Park High School in Martinsville, VA. She furthered her education at Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA and received a Bachelor of Social Work. Constance accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was a firm believer that the Lord provided all her needs. She was united in holy matrimony with Daryl M. Irby Sr. on June 19, 1993 in Martinsville, VA. Their union was blessed with two children. Constance enlisted into the United States Army on May 15, 1989 and served her country proudly. She completed her time of service and was released on May 14, 1997 and received an honorable discharge. She was self-employed as a provider for individuals with developmental disabilities for 13 years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed hanging out with her grandchildren, spending time on her farm, and going on lunch dates with her daughter. Connie was a thoughtful and overall amazing woman. She had a fun and outgoing spirit that made everyone around her laugh. She was known to be a go-getter who would accomplish anything she set her mind to. She was very family oriented and would do anything she could to help those around her. Connie was known to be the “glue” of the family. She kept everyone together and was always there for you when you needed her. Most people would remember her blunt and straight to the point personality. She was never afraid to speak what was on her mind. Most importantly, Connie was a loving woman. She poured out her heart and offered unconditional love to everyone around her. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband Daryl M. Irby Sr.; two children, Daryl M. Irby Jr. (Leticia) of Petersburg, VA and Deven Irby of Chesterfield, VA; a step-son Darwin Irby of Oakland, CA; two grandchildren, King Leo Irby and Emory Emoni Irby of Petersburg, VA; her parents, Peggy Vernon of Martinsville, VA and Hylton Hairston of Chesterfield, VA; mother-in-law, Cecelia R. Irby of Chase City, VA; brother, Timothy Vernon (Benita) of Martinsville, VA; and one sister, Sharon Hairston of Newark, New Jersey; one brother-in-law, Christopher Irby (Naomi) of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear.
