Clinton Battle

CLINTON BATTLE, son of the late Alex and Christianna Burgess Battle, was born in Enfield, North Carolina on March 19, 1954. Clint accepted Christ at a very young age and joined the White Oak Baptist Church located in Enfield, North Carolina. He was a graduate of Eastman High School, Enfield NC. He attended and earned a degree from the RETS School for Electronics in Passaic NJ where he also worked and lived for many years before relocating to Glen Burnie, MD. He was employed as a salesperson and a CDL driver for U.D. Steel-LaRoche -AIRGAS Speciality Products for approximately thirty years. He was united in holy matrimony to Darcell Mayo; and to this union two children were born, Sabrina Battle James and Sierra Battle.Affectionately known in the neighborhood as "Mr.Cliff," he will be remembered by family and friends for his positive outlook on life as well as his passion for helping others. One of his favorite passages is from the book of Joshua, which states, "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord" -Joshua 24:15.He was called from labor to reward on Sunday, May 17, 2009. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving family: devoted wife, Darcella Mayo Battle of Glen Burnie, MD; two beloved daughters, Sabrina James (Cain) of Centerville, VA and Sierra Battle of Baltimore, MD; three beloved sons, Clinton Battle Jr. (Neressa of Nashville, TN, Christian Battle (Greta) of Milden Hall, England and Anthony Battle of Owings Mills, MD; six dearly beloved grandchildren, Nasir, Noah, Destiny, Zoe Christianna, Christian Alexander II and Taylor Battle; his mother-in-law, Colene Mayo of (Patterson, NJ); four sisters, Bessie Cooper of District Heights, MD, Queen E. Lee (Calvin) of Rocky Mount, NC, Florence Bert (McKinley) of Hollister, NC and Christina Harris (Victor) of Woodbridge, VA seven brothers, William Mack Battle (Mary) of Rocky Mount, NC, Otis Battle of Willingboro, NJ, Ernest Battle (Mary) of Hackensack, NJ, Clifton Battle (Vickie) of Paterson, NJ, Charles Battle of Enfield, NC (Dorothy) of Alexandria, VA, Linton Battle and Glen Battle both of Enfield, NC (one brother, Jessie Battle, preceded him in death); sisters-in-law, Jeannette Riggins (Jimmie), Karen Mayo-Hogan (John), Margo Mayo all of Paterson, NJ and Merill Alston (Keith) of East Orange, NJ; eleven aunts, Julia Mae Battle and Lucinda Battle of Enfield, NC, Lillian Jackson of Petersburg, VA, Christine Cochran of Richmond, VA, Vera Miller of Bellville, NJ, Ira (Stanley) Moore of Mineral, VA, Marian Wood of Atlanta, GA, Sally (Henry) Burns, Lucy Lowrey, Carrie Davenport all of Paterson, NJ, and Shirley Davenport of Newark, NJ; one uncle, Perry Davenport Jr. of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
