Cletho Powell

A Time To Be Born Cletho “Chuckie” Powell was born to Claude and Luella Powell on September 7, 1938. He was one of six children. He was predeceased by his brothers Nathaniel and John Powell. A Time For Every Purpose Cletho attended East End High School in South Hill, VA. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Northview Baptist Church in Union Level, VA. He later became a member of Whittle Grove Baptist Church, South Hill, VA. He retired from Capital Interior Contractors in 2002. He was joined in holy matrimony on June 24, 1972 to Alice Loretta Jones. To this union was born a son, Christopher, on October 23, 1982. Cletho was a proud father. He enjoyed his backyard gardening, canning & preserving, cooking and believed he made the best coconut pies. He loved gospel music. Cletho cherished time spent with relatives and friends and walking and socializing with the fellas. Walking at Fairfield Commons was the highlight of his day. A Time To Die Cletho entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Memorial Regional Medical Center A Time To Mourn Cletho leaves to cherish his memory,a loving family:devoted wife,Alice J. Powell:son,Christopher Powell;two sisters,Bessie Ogburn,East Orange,NJ and Claudia Taylor,South Hill,VA;two brothers,James Powell(Joyce),Fayetteville,NC. and Robert Powell,Soth Hill,VA;two brothers-in-law,William Jones(Diane),Bon Air ,VA and Charles Thomas,Beaverdam,VA;one sister-in-law,Helen Jones,Richmond,VA and a host of nieces,nephews,cousins and friends. A Time To Heal Miss Me,But Let Me Go Miss Me,but let me go when I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little--but not too long, And not with your head bowed low; Remember the love that we once shared Miss me--but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, A step on the road to home.
