Clarence Gadson

Deacon Clarence Gadson, son of the late Lewis and Sarah Gadson, was born on January 26, 1925 in Eastover, South Carolina. He departed this life after a brief illness at the Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC., to join his Heavenly Father. Clarence was united in marriage to the late Elizabeth Flint. Clarence was educated in the public schools of Eastover, SC. He moved to Baltimore, Maryland in the early 1940’s. He was a World War II Veteran. Clarence gave his life to Christ at an early age at the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. He served faithfully as a deacon at the Siloam Baptist Church under the late Pastor Ernest Wooten. Clarence then moved his membership to the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Inc. At Mt. Hebron, Clarence served faithfully as a deacon until his demise. Clarence loved the Bible. You would often see him in Sunday School and Tuesday Bible Study. When his health allowed, he enjoyed serving with the Missionary Ministry on Thursdays at the Soup Kitchen. Clarence was employed at the American Standard Refinery for over 30 years then worked at the Mass Transit Administration for 13 years before retiring. Clarence was a kind and compassionate person; he loved people, and laughed often. He brought joy to all that knew him. He loved his family and fishing and he loved to travel. Clarence loved to share everything. He will be dearly missed. He leaves to cherish his memory his eldest brother, Jesse Gadson, Sr. (Columbia, SC); two sisters, Nancy Glover (Columbia, SC and Cleo Brewer (New Jersey); two brothers-in-law, Rev. Johnny J. Glover (Columbia, SC), Marvin Griffin (Baltimore); two sisters-in-law, Ollie Gadson (Baltimore) and Jessie Mae Griffin (Baltimore); nephews Sylvester Gadson, Jr. and Robert Gadson; nieces Mary Gadson, Gertie Winns, Nancy Dailey, Melanie Pinkney; a dear devoted friend, Carrie Hamilton (Baltimore); and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord:and He delighteth in his way.
