Clara White

Quietly and peacefully CLARA CLOYD WHITE passed from this earthly life into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 21, 2009.Clara White, known to many as Mom Clara, was born December 21, 1913 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Ida and Anthony Cloyd. Clara was raised in Parmele, North Carolina. She received her education in the Parmele City school system at Higgs Seminary in North Carolina. She later moved to Richmond, Virginia where she met her husband, the late Dallas R. White, who preceded her In death. They were married in 1945.Clara always served God. After moving to Baltimore she joined Concord Baptist Church, under the pasturage of the late Rev. J.M. Raynor. She served on The Whites Memorial Circle for many years. She was a faithful and active member until her health began to fail. She was blessed to have served under the late rev. Matthew R. Silver, and the current Pastor Dr. Matthew L. Jones. She loved her church and her pastors. She visited Huber with her daughter Juanita several times and fell in love with Pastor Smith.Clara enjoyed traveling, dancing, fishing, and eating good food. She was an excellent cook. Her desserts would melt in your mouth. She also played the piano. In the early 1950s she became Foster Parent, which she provided for more than 30 kids over the years. She love and nurtured each child as though they were her own biological children.Clara leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Juanita Cloyd her very devoted daughter with whom she resided (who never left her side) of Pikesville, MD, Sharon Cheatham (Robert) of Baltimore, MD, and Gloria Webb of Baltimore, MD (her son Harold Cloyd preceded her in death); twelve grandchildren, Peggy Smith (Bill) of Monroeville, PA, Minister Kiti Fowlkes (Terri) of Huntsville, Alabama, Tyrone Cloyd, Gregory Cloyd, and Yvonne Jones of Baltimore, MD, Anita Lockett, Kevin Lockett of Baltimore, MD, Charles Mullins, Chaunika Fields of Baltimore, MD, Narada, Aaron Webb of Baltimore, MD; eleven great-grandchildren, Kiana, Kendra, Theodore, Heather, Angela, Theodora, Tyrone, Jr., Charles, Charnae, Jaichaun, Terrell and fifteen great-grandchildren. Tyrone, Peggy, and Jeremiah were the loves of her life. Special thanks to her caregiver Sheila Shivers. Clara also leaves her church family, friends and a host of other family members to cherish her memory. Her favorite bible verse was: John 14:1-4.
