Christine Savoy

Christine Donnell Savoy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The daughter of the late Howard A. Wiggins and Mable Davis, she was born on March 2, 1946. A native of Durham, NC moved to Baltimore at a very young age. Christine peacefully entered her eternal rest on Wednesday July 17, 2024, after enduring a lengthy illness. Christine received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System where she attended Elementary School No. 136 and Dunbar High School. She held various job positions in Baltimore, however her favorite and most fulfilling positions, were when she worked as a Bus Driver for the Baltimore City School System and as a Salesclerk and Fashion Assistant to the many people who shopped at Fashion Bug Clothing Store. Christine affectionately known as: Mama, Chris, Aunt Christine and Mrs. Christine to her family and friends, had a passionate, caring, loving and giving personality. She was a Pillar in her East Baltimore Lafayette Community where she worked diligently with her neighbors to keep a safe and clean neighborhood. Christine was a highly motivated community activist who spent countless hours seeing to the needs of the people in her community. Christine loved her husband Gilbert Savoy, a union of 63 years, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. They were the heart of her life. Some of her greatest moments with her family were taking them to Gunpowder State Park, going to the movies, shopping, cooking and eating crabs. Her grandchildren gave her unspeakable joy. The precious moments that she shared with them will never be forgotten. Oh, how her beautiful smile and laughter will be missed by her loved ones. Christine, the third oldest daughter of her siblings was the “Big Sister” in her family. Whenever there was a need she was always there. She was a shoulder to cry on, gave motherly advice, an ear to listen and supportive in every way. We could not have asked for a more endearing, loving, kind and generous sister. Cherishing the memories of Christine’s life are: Gilbert Savoy, her devoted husband; one son, Raymond Savoy, three daughters, Gloria (Kevin) Marshall, Renee Savoy, Deborah (William Jr.) Veney; seventeen sisters and brothers, Brenda Rich, Barbara Ann (Pedro) House, Marion (Albert) Davis, Howard Curtis Wiggins, Marsha (Edward) Matthews, Ricky Broadway, Keith Broadway, Crystal Johnson, Beverly (Shanmugam) Karalasingham, Howard Charles Quinn, Albert (Yvette) Wiggins, Frances (Maurice) Russell, Sharon Wiggins, Sandra Wiggins, Augustus Wiggins, Nathaniel (Pheobia) Wiggins, Cornelius “Linda“ Wiggins; two sisters-in-law, Pamela Savoy Wilson, Christine Allen; three brothers-in-law, Eugene (Patricia) Allen, Paul Savoy and Sterling; ten grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; and one god-daughter Sharon Conner and family; Christine was preceded in death by her son Gilbert Gary Savoy, stepmother Cornelius Wiggins; four brothers Franklin Benjamin Quinn, Johnathan Quinn, Graylin Quinn and Ernest Wiggins; one grandson Raymond Savoy and one great grandson Rayshawn Owens.
