Chontae Michelle Waters

CHONTAE MICHELLE WATERS was born on August 8, 1975 in Baltimore, Maryland to Olandas Gamble and the late Cherl Hardy-Waters. She was the oldest of nine siblings. She was educated in the public schools of Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1993. Later she attended the Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville, where she completed several classes seeking an Associates Degree in Business Administration. While attending CCBC of Catonsville she enhanced her talent and passion for poetry, writing and other literary works. Similar to her mother, Chontae loved to read books, and she enjoyed various types of music, especially hip-hop. She had a kind and gentle spirit that was always cordial and gracious to all. She had a flair and passion for life, style and fashion. She had a great sense of humor. In tune with the spiritual Gamble legacy, Chontae loved the Lord and received Christ as her Personal Savior. Chontae had a close relationship with her siblings, cousins and other family members. She would always bring a ray of sunshine and happiness to every family event and gathering. She had eyes and a smile like Olandas.Chontae was a loyal and dedicated employee for Verizon, Sprint, Circuit City Stores and the District Court of Maryland, which prepared her for her position with the Baltimore City Office of Child Support Enforcement where she worked for the last three years. With each job she held she left her mark of being a cheerful, loving, compassionate young woman who was sensitive to others and their needs. She made everyone smile and feel better about life and all circumstances. Her genuine and sincere personality generated a peaceful and loving atmosphere wherever she was. Chontae’s presence demanded respect and authority with a style and grace that would own any room she entered. She has left an indelible mark on all of our hearts and lives. She was a sister, a lover, a fighter. She was the resident rebel, the revolutionary like her father. She was the teacher and the student. The child and surrogate mother, but more than that, she was a Beautiful Black Butterfly. The woman we all knew and loved, everyone will fondly and affectionately remember her. Chontae, we love you.Chontae leaves to cherish her memory and smiles: her father, Olandas Gamble; three sisters, Melony, Teia and Brandi; five brothers, Michael, Dominick, Marcas, Olandas II and Rahman; as well as best friend, Dekeya; and a host of other relatives and friends.
