Chiquita Rene Hubbard

Chiquita Rene Hubbard, known lovingly as Chic, was born on June 12, 1958, to the late George Louis Hubbard Sr. and Lena Lorine Hubbard. She was preceded in death by her dear brother, George Louis Hubbard Jr. (Dickie). A proud graduate of Armstrong High School in Richmond, Virginia, Chic dedicated 46 years of service as the Banquet Supervisor at the Country Club of Virginia. Chic’s roots ran deep in the vibrant Churchill neighborhood of Richmond, where she spent much of her life before moving to the Northside of Richmond. Chic was not only a loving mother and grandmother but a mother to many. She opened her heart and home to everyone, taking many under her wing and making sure no one was ever turned away. Chic's door was always open, and she treated all who entered as family. She was a best friend to her sisters, Shelia and Joyce Hubbard, who were her confidantes, support, and partners in everything. They shared a bond beyond that of siblings, and together they were inseparable, often referred to as “sisters 1, 2, and 3.” Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her adored daughter and grandchildren. She found comfort in watching Lifetime and Hallmark movies, later discovering Tubi movies. She also enjoyed playing games on her phone and chatting with her sisters whenever she wasn’t watching her favorite shows. Chic’s warmth, generosity, and kindness knew no bounds—she was a guiding light to all who knew her. Chic leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and openness. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Niquita Hubbard Fortune, son-in-law James Fortune, and her three cherished grandchildren: RaeMon Hubbard, Jay’La Fortune, and Jv’yana Washington. She is also survived by her two sisters, Shelia and Joyce Hubbard, and her brothers Tyrone Hubbard and Darryl Bullock Sr. (Jacquline). Her extended family includes eight nieces and nephews: Antwan Alston, Natasha Nicole, Ericka Hubbard, Jamaal Hubbard (Dee), Tivonya Hubbard (Chantelle), Tumar Hubbard (Shanae), Teondra Taylor, and Tyreik Hubbard, along with a host of great nieces and nephews. Chic also leaves behind her beloved sister-friend, Veronica Morris. Though she is no longer with us, Chic’s love and memory will remain alive in the hearts of all who knew her. Her spirit of kindness and generosity will continue to guide and inspire us, and her memory will forever be cherished.
