Chester "C-Note" Wilbert Roberts Jr.

Chester "C-Note" Wilbert Roberts, Jr. peacefully passed away on May 9, 2023. He was born on July 18, 1959, in Washington, DC, as the eldest son of the late Chester W. Roberts, Sr. and Doris A. Roberts. Chester attended New Kent County Public Schools and continued his education at Wake Forest University. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester W. Roberts, Sr., and his brother, Derrick Jason Roberts. At an early age, Chester embraced his faith and became a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Following his schooling, he worked at the Newport News Shipyard before dedicating himself to a career in law enforcement. In February 1983, he joined the Richmond City Police Department, where he served with unwavering commitment for 25 years. Chester retired in February 2008, concluding his esteemed service as a Detective at the 1st precinct. His colleagues regarded him as the epitome of professionalism, a devoted officer, and a cherished member of the Richmond Police Department Family. To his loved ones, Chester was affectionately known as Wilbert, while his extended family at the Nubian Kruzers United Motorcycle Oub fondly referred to him as C-Note. He shared a passion for car racing and motorcycle riding with his brother, Jason. Before his illness, he could often be seen on his Harley, taking leisurely strolls on weekends, or indulging in the thrill of car racing at the racetrack. Chester leaves behind a legacy cherished by those who loved him dearly. He is survived by his beloved mother, Doris A. Roberts; his sister, Linda Darlene Roberts; his three daughters, LaToya Banks (Brandon), LaChelle, and LaShawn Roberts; his two sons, LaVar Robinson, and Chester W. Roberts, III; his seven grandchildren, Terran, Devin, Aliya, Brandon, Braylon, Kori, and Isaiah; and his great-granddaughter, Layla. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his three devoted friends, Anthony Jones, Regina Williams, and Jeanette Burrell, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Chester's memory will forever live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard his call. I turned my back and left it all. I've found that peace at the end of the day. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free.
