Cheryl Yvonne Harris-Hill

Cheryl Yvonne Harris-Hill departed this life on June 11, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo DuPriest and Linda Yvonne Finney. Cheryl was a fun-loving, creative and fashion-forward spirit that lived life without apologies! She loved many things but she loved God the most. She had been an active and devoted member of St. Paul's Baptist Church for many, many years. At an early age, she found her passion for fashion and begged her mother to teach her how to sew. After, she began designing and making her own clothes and perfecting her impeccable style. Cheryl also worked to perfect the style of the family around her, whether they wanted to her too or not. Every holiday every birthday, she gave clothes ‘to improve your wardrobe.’ She followed her passion for over two decades clothing sales and management. Once she raised her son, she decided to devote herself to another passion, natural hair care. She went to school and became a certified loctitian and natural care specialist. As a result, she convinced her sisters, nieces, nephew, son and numerous others of the quality, beauty and sanctity of loving what God gave you naturally. Three years ago, Cheryl began her battle with breast cancer. Unashamed of her hair loss, she rocked her bald head like a warrior! After treatment and surgery, she was cancer free. Tragically, a year and a half later, the cancer returned. Afraid but still courageous, Cheryl put on her gear and fought until the final days of her life. Cheryl touched the lives of many people. Her realness and truth changed people. She will be terribly missed and loved forever. Cheryl leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Thomas Hill; devoted son, Kenneth Eggleston, II; In-laws, H. Tommy and Ruthgenia Hill; devoted sisters, Ingrid Reynolds(Michael), and Tonette Craig; sister, Salina Ghee(Al); brothers, Sylvester Finney,Jr.,(Tawanda), Charles Higgs(Alicia) and Melvin Craig; aunt, Anita Jones; uncle, Arthur Harris(Lynette); great aunts, Helen Epps Harris and Diane McLaurin Peoples; great uncles, Freddie and Ernest McLaurin; devoted friends and family, Sharon Eggleston,‘Grammy’ Eggleston, Veronica Jackson, Benita Williams and Anita Hill-Moses; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
