Cheryl Kidd Hall

Cheryl Ann Kidd the oldest child of Mattie Jackson Kidd and James Kidd was born December 6, 1955 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. On February 7, 2016 Cheryl moved to her new residence “Heaven”, where she was welcome by her son Geoffrey Branch and her husband Michael Hall. Cheryl was privileged to have lived on many Air Force Installations during her early childhood years. At the age of ten she was baptized at Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan. After returning to the United States, Cheryl and her family united with Friendship Baptist Church, Hopewell, Virginia where she remained a faithful member. In 1981, Cheryl enters The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) converting to Catholicism. Cheryl served in many capacities; she was a member of The Ladies’ Sodality of Holy Rosary and the Sunday Morning Bible Study under the tutelage of Dr. Mario Dance. She also served as the chairman of the Health Ministry offering screening and workshops for the congregation and the community. Cheryl graduated from Hopewell High School in 1974. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and president of the Vocational Industrial Club of America (VICA). In 1992 Cheryl Ann received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College. Her desire and quest for knowledge pushed her to pursue another degree, in 2001. Cheryl Ann received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. Eight years later in 2009 she received a Master’s in Education from Strayer University. Cheryl’s professional career encompassed working as a Registered Nurse at many hospitals in the Richmond area. For the past several years, Cheryl served as an Adjunct Professor at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College Downtown Campus, Richmond, Virginia. She was affiliated with many organizations in the community,secretary of the Lilly of the Valley Chapter 44 Order of the Eastern Star P.H.A.,Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority,Inc. Perhaps one of her most treasured affiliations was Cheryl's participation,membership,and support of the Breast Cancer Survivors Support Group. Although.she was challenged by the struggles of Breast Cancer she continued to fight,she continued to trust,and she continued to keep the faith. Cheryl enjoyed the finer things of “LIFE”, traveling to new and different places, Rome, Italy, the Caribbean, and New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a connoisseur of wine, blessed or not, and a good cup of Starbucks coffee. She was an avid reader, and collector of beautiful “black dolls.” If words could capture the essence of who Cheryl Ann Kidd Hall was, she was a caring, kind, happy, generous, loving, but most of all she was a courageous fighter. Leaving to cherish her legacy are her two devoted sons, Paul (Sheronda) and Christopher Branch, her parents; Mattie and James Kid, Hopewell, VA. Two grandchildren,Ceonna and Leia;one brother, Michael J. (Deborah)Richmond,VA;three sisters, Cathy K. Minor,Kelvetta K. Walker(Charlie)Hopewell,VA.,and Jane K. Richardson,Sumpter,South Carolina. Two aunts, Ann Hipps, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Ruby Butler (Cecil), Clinton, North Carolina. Three uncles Noah Jackson, Washington, Pennsylvania, Richard Jackson(Charlotte)Newburgh, New York, and Donald Jackson(Ruth) Canton,OH. Four lifelong friends, Mary Woodley, Dora Parson, Gwen Whittle, and Pamela (Morris)Jordan,Richmond,VA. And numerous other relatives and friends. Cheryl was loved by many and her spirit will remain with us throughout our loves. Her Favorite Mottos: Enjoy the Little Things Do More of What You Love Live, Love, Laugh
